Due to World War 2, the new building was not finished until 1954 so a temporary bar to satisfy the pub’s loyal clientele was quickly set up on adjacent land. Times have changed, but to patrons the Aussie pub is still affectionately known as “The Stump”.

Was here for a wedding and the location was so close to everything and the room that I was in was large and spacious. The food was soo beautiful and tasty. I had the tacos on Thursday, it was perfectly balanced. The Tim tam Cheesecake is a MUST HAVE! The lovely ladies who served me at the bar were so funny and kind and the lovely lady at reception was so patient. Thank you for a lovely stay! Atherton is very pleasant to visit.
Great staff, friendly and happy. Food was great, pizza was huge and very tasty. I had a great nights sleep, the bed was so comfortable. The rooms are bigger than I expected, great water pressure in the shower. I will be back.
We had a fantastic lunch in the bistro. The staff were friendly and helpful. My barramundi was crisp and fresh with excellent sauce, salad and veg mix. My friends steak n surf was also extremely tasty and cooked exactly how he likes it. We are full on foodies, and this is up there with the best. Thanks, Chef! Perfect way to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon.
Great place to stay if you want the manager trying to bust in on you when you are in the shower at 9:30am. Great speakeasy. Crap keno. Overpriced ginger beer. Clean rooms good TVs. Discrete disability ramp for disabled vets. Good pizza great cauliflower tacos on a Thursday. Not very queer or queen friendly.
Good place to stop on the way through…. Pub downstairs…..bistro good meals…. Toilet seat wasn’t clean cups and spoons where not clean and one of the two 600mil water bottles in the fridge was half empty. Other than that it was ok…….
