•In 1944, a fire ravaged what was then formerly a timber building, leaving only a charred light pole which was dubbed the “black stump”. Due to World War 2, the new building was not finished until 1954 so a temporary bar to satisfy the pub’s loyal clientele was quickly set up on adjacent land. Times have changed, but to patrons the Aussie pub is still affectionately known as “The Stump”.

Good place to stop on the way through…. Pub downstairs…..bistro good meals…. Toilet seat wasn’t clean cups and spoons where not clean and one of the two 600mil water bottles in the fridge was half empty. Other than that it was ok…….
You had no option for a half star, so here I go. We had lunch (3 of us) ladies, all whom have catering experience of 20years +. We were extremely disappointed in the very average bar service. ( not even a smile). Our meals were average at best. Definitely not worth the price we were charged.
Slept Ok. But the room is right in the corner & all the doors around slam hard from neighbours. The windows louvres in the roof let the sun light in at 6 am way to early. Tried to shut the blind it didn't work. Desperately needs fixing. Last stay in another room on the outer was perfect. Not so much this room
Room was nice but we could have a shower as the water was cold. I reported this issue on leaving and they didn't offer any compensation or a reduced cost for the inconvenience. We had to leave without having a shower which was very frustrating.
I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Atherton Hotel, and I must highlight the exceptional service provided by Lisa, the bartender. From the moment I walked into the bar, Lisa's warm and welcoming demeanor set a positive tone for the evening. She was not only lovely and nice but also incredibly helpful throughout my visit. Lisa's knowledge of the drink menu was impressive, and she took the time to make personalized recommendations based on my preferences. Her attention to detail and genuine care for the guests truly stood out. Whether it was crafting the perfect cocktail or engaging in friendly conversation, Lisa made the experience memorable. It's clear that Lisa takes pride in her work and goes above and beyond to ensure that every guest feels valued and well taken care of. Her outstanding service is a testament to the high standards of the Atherton Hotel. I highly recommend stopping by the bar and experiencing Lisa's wonderful hospitality firsthand.
