We came on a Saturday for lunch and originally sat out the front where we had some food and drinks. The menu looks interesting but when the food came out the tastes are just all wrong and quite small in size. We tried the chicken and Brie croquettes, which just tasted odd, fried baby squid, pork belly twisties which were okay, but strange flavours again, even the chips were average. We then went upstairs for drinks and it had a great vibe so stayed for a little longer. Some of the staff were friendly and helpful. We didn’t have a bad time, it was the food that was the let down, sometimes keeping it simple is better. There was also a number of beggars asking for money when we sat out the front which is probably a sign of the area so to avoid I would sit inside or on the roof top.
The atmosphere of the pub was really nice, the staff were lovely and I appreciate the efforts of all involved. Unfortunately I bought the Brisket and Guinness pie and was left disappointed as there really wasn't much flavour. I enjoyed the minted peas on the side along with the Guinness sauce/gravy amongst the mashed potato, but the pie itself was very wet and had no real flavour. The beef brisket itself was cooked well and also the presentation was nice but alas, for $30.00 you'd expect a bit more from the flavour department.
This is my favourite food and drink venue to visit when in Brisbane. The food - particularly the pizza - is always top notch, the drinks are fresh, and the setting is fantastic. The upstairs outdoor area is always a vibe. A venue is really made great by the people who run it, though, and that’s where the Boundary really shines. The staff are so friendly, can’t do enough to help, and make you feel so welcome. It’s like visiting friends each time.
So overall my experience wasn’t bad! The place itself is nice enough and the staff were super on the ball and really respectful. There is not really much in the way of knowing where to go to eat with kids, and the price is a little on the higher side. The food presentation was beautiful and the sweet potato wedges were actually the best. I hate that the dining is only high tables and high seating, and with kids this is really hard to navigate. I got the swordfish which wasn’t too bad at all, I wish there was a little more bernaise sauce but for what it was it was quite nice! The vibe is definitely more of a like mid-late 20s vibe, but isn’t uncomfortable either.
My partner and I had a joint birthday celebration on the roof top and it couldn’t have gone any better. Zoe, the function manager made everything to easy to organise, the food was great and the bar staff were exceptional! Highly recommend!
