A recent gorgeous renovation has really made this place feel alive. Indoor and outdoor dining spaces are available and also a large function area. The new degustation menu was tremendous. Changing weekly, you may not know what you’re going to get, but I assure you it will be damn tasty. We enjoyed baked pasta, Kingfish, roasted quail, heirloom carrots and tiramisu just to name a few dishes. On a thirty degree night, the cocktails were amazing. Lemoncello Spritz, Watermelon Spritz and the Ambra version of a Pina Colada, all are highly recommended. As for the stuff, they were sensational. Nothing was too much trouble and they always were happy to answer any questions or concerns we had.
Seriously good food...and seriously good cocktails! There was a large group of us, so we did the "feed me" option for $79. Everything that landed was delicious. Perhaps the portion sizing was a little on the smaller side, but the quality of the food/dishes was very good. Their wine list is small, but in fairness, it is a distillery. The cocktails we drank were some of the best I've had!
We had the 100ml lemoncello bottles as our bombonieres at our wedding recently ! We had so many of our guests compliment us on how amazing the lemoncello was and they wanted more! Thank you for such a great product that I was able to share with our family and friends at our wedding Highly recommend!
We’ve been to Ambra Spirits twice now—once for the à la carte menu and once for the bottomless brunch—and were so impressed both times! The food is delicious and beautifully presented, the service is outstanding, and the atmosphere is so relaxed, vibrant and welcoming. We’ll definitely be back!
Ambra has been renovated and is back with a vengeance! This South Australian institution , which is having its 25th birthday, has just finished its renovation and was just opened to the public a few days before our visit . It has a function area , and booths - but you can also opt to sit outside if you like , or even at the bar . There was some very funky tunes playing in the background, but it didn’t disturb the laid back atmosphere. Ambra’s original limoncello, which has not had a recipe change in the entire 25 years, makes each batch with 360 Riverland lemons , and then they are zested by hand . There’s only 4 ingredients in this beauty , and it does pack a punch of flavour . I did a tasting flight , which also includes their refreshing Gins, and another liquor which is milk based. There are three different flights available, and the mixed one is great if you want to try a bit if everything. The contemporary Watermelon Gin has just won a gold medal in London , and it’s great for summer cocktails. The new menu - which was created over just two days by a brilliant chef , owes much to the family owned Italian heritage . There are quite a few different gf options- and it does cater to lots of dietary needs . My friend and I shared the crispy fried quail and the Patate ( roasted kipfler potatoes with green olive tapenade) and the quail has to be up there with some of the best things I’ve had this year . The desserts were seriously on another level - and they were all gf so I had difficulty making a choice ! I ended up with the Da Libero Fragole all’ Aceto Balsamico - which was Ambra orange liqueur sweetened ricotta , poached strawberries and balsamic - which is a tribute to the late owner that recently passed . I think he would have been honored with such an amazing tribute . It was a refreshingly light dessert - not too sweet , but a great end to a perfect repast . My friend had the Coviglia Al Cioccolato- which was the Ambra Liqueur Cappuccino semifreddo , which had miso caramel sauce and candied hazelnuts , dusted with cocoa. I’d liken it to a tiramisu in taste - the coffee really hits the palate. I expected the gin and liqueurs , but not the amazing new menu . The time and effort that has gone into this is on a level of a good restaurant. They also have their little truck Sofia , which you can hire for events - such a wonderful idea if you’re having a wedding or a big birthday bash ! The staff here bent over backwards- kudos to Jordan the venue manager for all the tireless explanations and the lovely Morgan for all her enthusiasm! Looking forward to doing a cocktail class hopefully in the New Year . A South Australian institution at its finest !
