Nestled on Carlisle Street in St Kilda East, Balaclava Hotel has recently undergone renovations to now offer not only the perfect spot for our locals, but a great bar and bistro for visitors to the area. Rich in history, we’ve been a favourite in the St Kilda area for years. We’re the perfect balance between a historical pub and a fresh, contemporary bar. This inviting space is ideal for everything from engagement parties to Christmas breakups, work drinks to milestone birthdays, and everything in between! Accessible via stairs or lift, the space features its own fully stocked bar with 8 beers on tap, BlueTooth connectivity for music, 2 x wall-mounted TVs, private bathrooms, and an all-weather courtyard (Roof shutters and heating for the winter and misting fans for those balmy Melbourne summer days!). The Rooftop Bar can comfortably accommodate up to 110 guests cocktail style.

Passing through and happened to stop by Balaclava Hotel on a Monday night. Luckily, it was Trivia Night, and the atmosphere was fantastic! The place was lively and fun, food was surprisingly affordable and absolutely delicious. Great value for money. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in the area!

Popped in for lunch, staff super friendly and the food arrived in a timely fashion. The food was perfectly cooked and as requested. The Moroccan squid was divine ( had to try as new to the menu). Will come back again.

I recently had my 21st birthday at the balaclava hotel on there rooftop area, and it was a blast! The staff were very accommodating and helpful, throughout the whole experience. Lee the event manager was amazing to communicate with and was very helpful! The number 1 comment that I received from my family and friends was how GOOD the food was!

I went to the rooftop bar for New Year's Eve. A truly great night was had by all. The band that played kept the room rocking. Quite busy as it was ticket only with a 3 hour free bar and finger food. Felt sorry for the 2 guys at the bar as it was frantic. Did need at least one more at the bar. The finger food was extremely tasty, and a lot of it. "The arancini balls were brilliant." Staff as always were great. Thankyou Balaclava for a great night.

Balaclava Hotel is a proper local classic. The pub has a relaxed vibe, the atmosphere is friendly, and the staff know what they’re doing. The pokies area is clean and well organised, so you can enjoy yourself comfortably. Ash deserves a special mention super friendly, attentive, and genuinely makes you feel welcome rather than just another customer. Great spot to grab a drink, unwind, or hang out with friends. Definitely a place I’ll be coming back to.
