Stopped in for dinner & it was fabulous. All four meals were generous serves, nicely presented & delicious. Great looking hotel, really beautiful & warm atmosphere. Cocktails were very good & fair price. So pleased with our time there. Staff were friendly, quick & helpful.
Hotel Frangos looked sumptuous online, is in a great spot and looks rustic and inviting from outside. Our room was very cheap and while it was comfortable there were a couple of issues. The floor was incredibly creaky throughout the room and the TV was so old that we could only get a couple of channels. We were hoping to watch some cricket after a day of exploring but this was not to be.
The staff were friendly enough, but the service was pretty poor. Our table was dirty, and we had to ask for cutlery. I expected better service for the prices we paid. Beautiful location and the outside dining is lovely though!
We got food poisoning from this place last week. I can only assume the chef called in sick and a waiter took over because the gnocchi tasted like it was from a packet and the pizza sauce tasted unseasoned, there was no garlic on the pizza when it was supposed to be a garlic and prawn pizza and the prawns were rubbery and so overcooked. I never complain about restaurants but this was beyond bad. After these meals we were sick all weekend. Such a shame because I visited 7 years ago and the food used to be good.
Fantastic location, the courtyard is just beautiful, staff less so, most of them were not really interested. Watermelon mojito was good but coming back the next day and ordering it again via QR code - they brought the drink out but had no mint - they'd run out. Tables were left with empty glasses and plates, toilets weren't very clean either. Bit of a shame.
