ALTO is a warehouse-style venue with exposed thirty-foot-high ceilings and concrete floors. Paired with stylish, contemporary furniture and ALTO’s large outdoor terrace it is the ideal venue for your next event.

 

ALTO Event space is a hidden rooftop amongst the urban laneways of Melbourne CBD, a secret that few have experienced. Alto is the super chic urban event space located on the top floor of Melbourne’s iconic GPO building in the heart of the CBD. Alto Event Space embraces industrial materials and textures with magnificently polished concrete floors, floor-to-ceiling glass walls and an extravagant feature bar, which casts a warm and inviting glow, bringing a sense of glamour and opulence to the space.

Chloe and Damm Fine Food did a wonderful job bringing the reception of our dreams to life in May. Chloe was super patient with my questions and transparent with communications. Catering staff were incredibly attentive and it was nice to see them having fun as well. The night was seamless and stress-free, and we were so well looked after by the team. Heaps of guests complimented the food as well, and the cocktails were divine.

As a wedding photographer, it’s fantastic to work in a space that looks stunning from every angle. The large windows let in beautiful natural light, making all the photos look incredible. The balcony is spacious enough for a ceremony, so you can even have an outdoor ceremony if you choose. It’s perfectly located right in the heart of the city, making a city stroll for portraits super accessible. The team here is an absolute dream to work with, and every setup I’ve seen has been amazing. Thanks to the team at Alto for their amazing work, and for always taking care of me. Definitely worth looking into if you're after a city wedding right in the heart of the CBD.

We had our wedding reception at The Alto Event Space, and it was absolutely perfect from start to finish. The team went above and beyond to accommodate every request and Chloe, the venue coordinator, was incredibly professional and a pleasure to work with. She made the planning process seamless, ensuring everything ran smoothly. The food, provided by Damn Fine Food group, was beyond exceptional. Each dish was not only delicious but also impeccably presented. The wine selection was fantastic, and our guests couldn’t stop raving about the martini cart. It was everything we hoped for and more and we couldn’t have asked for a better venue to celebrate our special day! We would highly recommend The Alto without hesitation.

What steps are involved in booking an event at Alto Event Space?

There are a few steps involved in booking an event at Alto Event Space and the VenueNow team are here to do the heavy lifting for you.

Firstly, contact the VenueNow team by submitting an enquiry or speaking to one of our team members online or over the phone. We'll need to collect a few details from you, such as your:
- Event type
- Number of people attending
- Preferred event date & time (and if this is flexible)
- Budget (per person or total)
- Room layout
- Food and beverage / catering requirements
- Any other requirements

Once we've gathered these details, the VenueNow team will contact the team at Alto Event Space to check:
1) Can they host the event on your preferred date / time? If not, what are some alternate dates / times?
2) What is the estimated cost based on your event requirements?

This process tends to take around 1 business day on average to receive a response from the venue. Once we've received a response, the VenueNow team will contact you as soon as possible.

If you're happy with the proposed price and dates / times, the VenueNow team will connect you with Alto Event Space to finalise your booking (which may include a site visit if you choose to do so).

VenueNow provides this service free of charge to you as we are paid a small fee by Alto Event Space if you book via us.

Is there an additional cost required in hiring Alto event space?

VENUE HIRE FEE

If you spend the required minimum on food and drink, you will not have to pay any additional venue hire fees unless you need access to the venue for more hours.

 

CLEANING FEE

We charge a $350.00 + GST cleaning fee for all bookings. If you need additional cleaning, like after your party, we can give you a quote based on the requirements.

 

SECURITY BOND

A security bond of $1,000.00 will be included in your function invoice; this amount will be refunded to you pending an inspection of the event premises post-event.

 

PUBLIC HOLIDAY SURCHARGE

A 25% charge will be added to your total on Public Holidays.

 

Do I need to hire security when hiring Alto Event space?

All events must have security guards, who will arrive and leave 30 minutes before and after guests, respectively. Security guard services cost $70 per hour on weekdays and $95 per hour on holidays, with a minimum of 4 hours required.
