We come to Milawa Lancemore every year at this time. We have loved the renovation refresh and the venue provides ample space to relax and enjoy the wonderful amenities. The food and beverage offerings are exceptional and highlight the local area. Booking dinner at Merlot is recommended. The service is first class. The location is ideal, with so many places to visit in walking distance or a short drive away - Brown Brothers winery, Ava Restaurant, Henley's Wine Bar, Milawa Cheese Company and Milawa Mustards to name a few. We will be back again in 2025.
A beautiful country hotel. The interior designers have a flair for appearance, but little understanding of the need for comfort. Too many seats were too deep with no back support. The pool was not heated. Dinner was excellent, if a little expensive - 2 courses for $85. The staff were cheerful and helpful. Despite the negatives it is still a lovely place to stay.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but there's a lot of things that can be improved. The grounds and communal spaces are beautiful. But it's overpriced for what you get and the quality of service. You'd expect better for nearly $500 a night. We were lucky enough to get the stay for 2 nights, get the third night free deal, but if I paid full price, I would've been very disappointed. - Service is lacking, and you're felt feeling like you're inconveniencing them when you ask for something. - There are a lot of bugs!! Maybe not something that can be solved, and the fly spray in the room is appreciated, but it's not pleasant having bugs die and land all over the room, including the bed. - The pool is a pleasant space, but it needs maintenance. There seems to be some sort of moss growing in the corners at the bottom of the pool and as it disintegrates, it floats throughout the pool. Either it needs to be emptied and filled or cleaned more often. There's no service to buy drinks by the pool, but they also ask that drinks from outside aren't consumed in communal spaces, which doesn't seem fair. They also need more pool beds and umbrellas. - The breakfast is okay. Food is fine, but not great, and it seems like they are understaffed. - There are meant to be board games available, but all they had was one monopoly board. On the plus side, Ava and the pub (both walking distance) are great! Ava is absolutely delicious and the service is really good. The pub is just a standard pub, with friendly service and good meals.
Terrific spot to stay to sample the Milawa/King Valley region. Directly opposite Brown Brothers (that has really informative & enjoyable tastings) and a great restaurant too. Onsite Lancemore restaurant was very solid, as was its breakfast offering. Highly recommend.
The hotel looks amazing at first glance and the welcome was warm. I would have preferred to give a 3 and a half star review. It’s in a stunning location with beautiful vineyard views and we loved that we were offered a sunset or sunrise view room which makes a big difference in the Australian summer. The rooms are spacious but the bathroom is fairly basic. The mini bar was stocked nicely and there is a lot of room for luggage but the decor is somewhat unfinished. Bed and pillows very comfortable. Our deck had shutters to shield from our neighbours were dusty so we didn’t use them. Lovely outlook. Recommend earplugs for sleeping as local frogs chorus loudly all night, no double glazing. Aircon worked well and was quiet. We ate in the Merlot restaurant on the first night. The food was ok and the service was friendly but not very efficient. They seemed understaffed. Breakfast was beautiful both mornings with efficient friendly service and good coffee. The pool is lovely but not serviced very well. Water was clean but the sunbeds were left with wet cushions some of which were mouldy. No drinks service at the pool. Overall we enjoyed our stay but probably wouldn’t return. There is so much unrealised potential.
