June 2025 - Enjoyed an early dinner (5.30pm to 7.30pm) with a friend at PJ O’Briens Irish Pub. Service was excellent (timely and attentive) for drinks and food. Atmosphere was great and not too noisy - we were in the Sidebar area - it’s a lovely restaurant area whereas it it is booth style seating next door in the main bar area. Food was very good. The croquettes weren’t served with the advertised tomato relish and I forgot to request it - just too hungry! The steak, mash and peppercorn sauce were also great. Good range of dishes and would definitely return to try them.
Four of us had dinner there, on a Wednesday night. I tried during the day to make a booking, but my call was answered by an AI RECEPTIONIST, who said there were no available booking, but to try a walk in. So we did, it was very quiet. The decor seems authentic, quite dark and woody. The beef and Guinness pie was absolutely delicious, with lots of tender moist meat, no fatty bits, creamy mashed potatoes and some steamed veggies. It came with a glass of wine, all on special at $30. It was really tasty and the house red, quite pleasant. I thought the pricing for the quality was excellent.
Great place to hone your skills "Slitting the G". Food was fantastic, can be a bit loud when busy, but depends on why your there I guess.
Had the Barra on special for lunch. It was very tasty and the juse with olives was a very interesting and tasty surprise. They also have Heaps Normal zero alcohol Beer which is really good.
Went for pints of Guinness on NYE and the vibe was 10/10. Good crowd, rockstar staff and amazing live music. Never a disappointment here. will always be a favorite spot in the CBD/ southbank
