Plus 5 South Wharf is a cocktail and tapas bar, set alongside spectacular views of the Yarra and Melbourne’s city skyline. It also makes a historic cargo hall its home, one built in Melbourne’s salad days, way back when in 1884.A mix of old and new, Plus 5 retains the bones of its setting’s former life, with high ceilings, exposed beams, and a large ‘5’ across one wall (albeit in stylish tiling rather than sea-ravaged wood). The space itself is modern, sophisticated, sleek - quintessentially Melbourne.And the drinks? Again, a mix of old and new, with classic cocktails sitting alongside a slew of modern concoctions. A great spot for birthday drinks, an office get together, or a Christmas party.Plus 5 is found along South Wharf’s Promenade, a stroll away from Spencer Street, and the city beyond. You come for the view and atmosphere and it is excellent. The food was good - we had both the gnocchi but the strawberry cocktail can not be recommended. All in all a good night out.

We had a table with a waterfront view. The food was delicious, hot, and quick. The cocktails and wine 🫶 service on point, I bumped into the head chef and thanked him for our meal. He asked what we had? After quick chat, he was delighted we enjoyed our meal. How good is that!. Not many places would be so gracious. A perfect dinner and atmosphere on our last night in Melbourne.

Arrived 1pm Saturday for lunch. Seated immediately and took 15 minutes for order to be taken. Drinks took a further 20 minutes to arrive. Chips took a further 15 minutes to arrive cold. Pizza followed 20 minutes later and was to be seen. Crust was wafer thin, cooked well enough but, yep, cold and juicy. We complained to the manager and he didn’t give a flying F. So we told all our mates, got onto Facebook and groups. So there is well over 50 families that will avoid this place. You’re not the only place to eat at in Sth Wharf, step up or ppl will stop visiting!

We had a fantastic experience, all thanks to our wonderful waitress. Despite the hectic rush, she remained calm, friendly, and attentive, making sure everyone felt well taken care of. Checked on every table with a huge smile. Her recommendations were spot-on, and she handled the busy atmosphere with such grace and professionalism. It’s rare to find such excellent service during busy times, but she truly went above and beyond to make everyone happy. We left feeling not only satisfied with the food but also grateful for the outstanding service. Highly recommend this place, and if you’re lucky enough to be served by Maddie ❤️, you’re in for a real treat!

Had lunch there as a group of four and was greeted by a lovely waitress and was taken to our table outside. She asked if we were comfortable ordering through the QR code which we were, which is fine. But then it got too hot and we moved inside instead. Ordered our food via the QR code which ran smoothly. Drinks came over quite quickly however it took awhile for us to get our food. Mind you, it wasn’t crazily busy and we had only ordered 2 bowls of chips and 2 small plates. We then noticed our food had been cooked and left on the bench for a good 10-15 minutes before it brought out to us. The chefs even rang the bell multiple times however it was ignored and one of the FOH staff was just talking to manager(?) who was on the laptop instead of serving the food that was left getting cold and even then, another table who ordered after us got their food before we did. There were even multiple staff members just walking around as well not really serving. The food came out but was reasonably cold as expected due to being left to sit on the bench and even then one of the small plates was missing. We questioned the waitress after a few minutes and mentioned that the food was cold only for her to come to the table saying there had been a glitch and they only just got our order through the system which is a lie. There’s no way you can say that when we ordered together, everything but one dish came out and then 1 minute later after questioning, the dish comes out. The story just doesn’t add up as we sat directly in front of the kitchen. She offered to replace the chips however the same thing probably would happen again so we declined. Food had alright flavours but being cold just made it very average. Very disappointing experience. Wouldn’t recommend. The staff could definitely do with a bit more training as well and learning what and how to prioritise.
