•Average hotel in a great location. This is not a 5 star hotel. To start, there is no bar/restaurant, no breakfast, no to service and a very small scruffy terrace on the rooftop that you have to walk through the gym to get to. The positives. It’s in a great location across from the market with heaps of food and drink options around. It’s on the tram line to the city and close to Chapel St. Staff are friendly, bed is comfy and room is ok, although one of our lights wasn’t working. After 2 and a half weeks The Cullen still hasn’t returned my deposit and my email was ignored.
Room was well presented and clean, great location, a little noisey at night outside but right opposite the market. We stayed at a time there were a few construction things going on so the lift was not fully functional and there was a few cables safely hanging etc. the restaurant was closed and there was no room service or breakfast options available. The room we had was a double queen as it was two friends sharing and it was fine, other than the glass wall in to the shower/toilet area. Not very private for sharing friends. Otherwise the room was nice with a great little kitchenette. Was very appreciative of the early check in though.
Perfect location with easy, secure parking on site. The reception staff were lovely and helpful upon arrival and made sure we had a quiet room as requested and made me aware of a couple of bonuses they offered (late checkout etc.) The room was nicely laid out with all the things one would expect in a good hotel: lighting options (table lamps), good toiletries and a great shower with water pressure! A window that can be opened!(so rare) good window treatment so the room can be made really dark, neat kitchenette setup, lots of clothes hanging space. SUPER comfortable bed. All round great experience and we will definitely be returning.
A very nice hotel, I enjoyed my stay. Room is convenient with the kitchen facilities. Bed is super comfortable and the staff very friendly. I went in and out of the city easily on the tram and train. Special mention to the almost life-sized Ned Kelly picture on the wall next to my bed. Him pointing a gun at me while I slept might become my new sleep paralysis demon. Terrifying, but arty I suppose.
Stylish Stay in Prahran, But Room for Improvement on Loyalty Perks We recently stayed at The Cullen in Prahran, and it’s definitely a unique experience. The hotel is filled with bold, vibrant works by the late Australian artist Adam Cullen, which gives the space a quirky, artistic edge and sets it apart from typical hotel decor. Our room was spacious and immaculately clean, with everything you’d expect from a boutique Art Series hotel. While there’s no on-site restaurant or bar, its prime location in Prahran more than makes up for it—you're surrounded by a fantastic range of cafes, restaurants, and bars, and just steps away from Chapel Street and Prahran Market. Valet parking is available at $35 per night, which is reasonable for the area. However, we were surprised that loyal Platinum members don’t receive any concessions or discounts on parking, whereas new members get 50% off. It felt like a missed opportunity to reward loyal returning guests. Overall, a stylish and comfortable stay in an unbeatable location, but the loyalty program could use a refresh to better recognize returning customers.A special shout-out to Manager Petrick, who was professional, helpful, and made our stay special. We’ll definitely be back!
