After a nine year hiatus and extensive restoration the George Ballroom is back to its former glory, just as it was in its 1930s heyday. This historical event space is located on the first floor of The George Hotel in Fitzroy Street, St. Kilda and has retained its classic and elegant features. You will fall in love with its hand painted ornate ceiling rosettes, stained-glass windows and the whimsical feeling left with you long after leaving this one-of-a-kind venue – a place you thought you could only romanticise over. But now, the Damm Fine Food team can turn your dreams into a reality. We recently had our wedding at The George Ballroom. I often joke that I had a shortlist of venues already prepared by the time my now-husband (surprise) proposed, but this is the truth and The George Ballroom was number 1 on that list. As soon as we stepped into the ballroom, we decided there and then that that was the space for our special day. Beautiful as they are and will be, pictures will not do it justice as you'd have to be there in person to really take in just how stunningly gorgeous the space is. The heritage space with its worn walls and high ceilings is a dream come true. A lot of our guests commented that it gave 'Bridgerton vibes'. It's beautiful enough that you wouldn't need to do much for additional styling and decor - the staff at The George Ballroom will have your back with this especially if you're planning your own wedding like I did! The entire process of planning the wedding, from the start, to the final weeks leading up to the day, and the day itself was seamless. For this, we owe a great debt of gratitude to our venue event coordinator Samantha Trudgett, and also to Molly Barton who set things in motion for us at the start. Samantha was always readily available and responsive, professional, insightful and super organised. She took the initiative to make sure that things were running smoothly on the day and where needed, offered helpful suggestions using her wealth of wedding event experience and expertise. My maid of honour also commented on how helpful she was. Most importantly, Samantha made me feel reassured and at ease and kept my anxiety of planning things at bay in the period leading up to the day. The food was amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed the complimentary menu tasting dinner. Selecting our courses for the event was challenging with so many good options! We had guests from all over the world and they all loved the food. We had quite a large percentage of dietary requirements in the group and all were met without any issues. The staff were all so lovely and warm. We cannot recommend the lovely team at Damm Fine Foods and The George Ballroom enough! Thank you for making our dream a reality! Lib and Phil

The George Ballroom was the perfect venue for our wedding! Full of heritage and charm, the space is truly one-of-a-kind. Molly, our event manager, was absolutely fantastic and ensured everything ran seamlessly. We had 100 guests, and instead of the usual layout with long tables and the dance floor at the end, we opted for round tables with the dance floor in the middle. It really showcased how versatile the space is, and we absolutely loved it! The cocktails were delicious, the food was exquisite, and the staff were attentive and professional. The team truly brought our vision to life, and we couldn’t have asked for a more memorable experience. We highly recommend The George Ballroom for any special occasion!

Due to circumstances we had to plan our wedding in less than three months. From my first enquiry Samantha and Molly were brilliant. They were empathetic to our circumstances and made this whole wedding planning so simple. I honestly would not have expected myself to be such a chill bride, but it was made easy with their help. From the moment we stepped foot into The George Ballroom, we knew it was the wedding venue for us. Simply stunning. But to go with the beautiful venue, is the delicious food, and great service of all the staff. Our event co-ordinator, Ashleigh, was fabulous, we felt completely at ease knowing everything was taken care of for us. Nothing was too much trouble. A truly memorable day for both my husband and I, and all of our guests. Highly recommend to anyone considering this venue for their event.

My partner and I just got married at the George Ballroom. We fell in love with the space from the moment we walked in and knew immediately that it was a non-negotiable that we had to have our ceremony here. It was the ceremony of our dreams and the venue team were amazing! Could not have found a better space even if we tried!
