Hiding away on the second floor of Melbourne’s iconic Curtain House is The Toff in Town. The Toff features two distinct spaces both available for events. Boasting one of Melbourne’s best line-up of DJ’s and well embedded as one of the cities favourite live music and festival venues, the Toff delivers a unique atmosphere and invites you in for a glamorous evening of dinner, drinks and dancing. The Stage-side is a large open performance space that can accommodate a diverse range of events with stage and lighting facilities. The Carriage-side is home to our stylish cocktail bar, and private train-like carriages (or booths) available for dinner or cocktail reservations. The Toff’s kitchen is proudly Thai and offers a playful range of menu items including canapes, bar snacks, and more substantial main courses.

The Toff is a great venue that hosts friendly staff. I attended for the University of Melbourne ‘Raising the Bar’ event sharing current research with people from the local community. It is so wonderful that The Toff support important events like this and I look forward to returning in the near future. Only thing that would have made my experience better was that if the young people used the stairs so that my elderly parents didn’t have too as the lift line was out the door. 😂😅

My friends and I came here for happy hour drinks. The vibe was great and we were having a good time, drinks coming steadily throughout the evening. At one point, a round of drinks was brought to our table. We assumed they were part of our order and started drinking them, only to realise afterwards that they were never ours to begin with. A while later, a staff member came over, frowned at us, and abruptly told us we needed to pay. She kept repeating that the drinks weren’t ours and that we had to cover them, but her tone was extremely rude and she raised her voice at us — over a mistake that wasn’t ours in the first place. The drinks were delivered to our table by staff. We didn’t order them or ask for them. Being spoken to that way over someone else’s error completely soured what had been a fun anniversary night. I have always loved this place, had some great memories. The venue is magic and still exciting and mysterious and definitely a Melbourne must visit; however we had two martinis and the bar was quiet the service was cold and dismissive, the staff seem to just wear the most casual attire they can and it matches their vibes.

At other places for the same price, you get cocktails that feel like art and taste like pure bliss. Here, they feel like a punch to the face and taste like regret. It’s the kind of regret you feel when you realize that, unlike a burnt meal, you can't exactly send a drink back. It’s a shame because the atmosphere is actually quite lovely.

Came here on a whim - immaculate atmosphere, good happy hour options. One of the managers "Shay" was wonderful and kind enough to let me know of a couple others bars as an out of towner. Def recommend
