I was here as a photographer for an event. There is a nice function hall on the second level of the hotel. The function hall is spacious good for medium sized functions and the food is great. I had the steak with mashed potatoes and beans, it tastes good. Lighting could be better and just be mindful of the ceiling for flash photography, its not a flat and fully white ceiling so you can't always bounce light from the ceiling.
This place has forgotten its a pub come here for overpriced food, I am especially disappointed in how poorly portioned the pork ribs were we ordered two plates and one plate came out with only 4 and the other 5. The food sat under warmer too long and curdled the Mayo a bit I thought it was off. The ribs are just in baby rays, chips bland like celery salt isn't hard never been to a pub this expsive before and the food be this bad.
Place didn’t seem busy, but it’s Monday night so I didn’t expect it to be packed. Staff was lovely. Good on the other hand…. I ordered Mac and cheese aranchini…. There was no rice in it, none that I can see, it was basically mac and cheese balls… 5 of them for 20$… The Parma was very avarage, every third bite you had that chewy bit of the chicken and you just couldn’t swallow it…. Ordered a rib eye, I asked for it medium rare to rare… it came out cooked. Pretty much well done, the photo speaks for itself. Mash was not nice, needs more butter, tasted powderey Mushroom sauce tasted like the one you can buy in the can at Coles. Overall I wouldn’t recommend the food here at all.
Unfortunately, our visit to Fountain Gate Hotel didn’t live up to expectations. We ordered the parmas, and they were small, rubbery, and just didn’t match the price in terms of quality. If we hadn’t used the app discount (which gives you $10 off when you sign up), we would’ve felt even more disappointed paying full price. The waitress serving us was lovely and did a great job no complaints there. However, the dining area where you actually eat looks very outdated, almost like an aged care facility, which really clashes with the more modern look of the bar area. The overall vibe just felt mismatched and underwhelming. Hoping to see some improvements, especially with the food quality and dining atmosphere.
I have been here quite few times for dinner and also in pokies area. Prices on the menu are reasonable (same like everywhere else) but the fries were greasy and bit too crispy to for my taste. Atmosphere at huge pokies area was not nice when i visited. They also always had one drunk and argumentative person in the venue. In my opinion it is not worth visiting unless you play pokies but even then i lost all money on 7 machines. Not single one brought game or enjoyment. They also did not have enough staff on the shift because one staff from pokies area (which is huge) went to restaurant and ate chips within 30 seconds and went back immediately to work in bar area. There was no enjoyment for the amount of money myself and my friends spent here on more than one occasion. The staff were also rude and pushy on one occasion at the bar, but i also have to mention very polite and attentive young Asian male staff member (with glasses on) who was attentive when we were ordering the food and was happy to swap tomato sauce with aioli (i ordered food with aioli but it was brought with tomato sauce instead). I would have to say this place seems to be (100%) not worth visiting unless you are traveling trough this Narre Warren area and everything else was closed and you needed to eat and/or drink. And it still would not be in peace.
