Overall great hotel. Staff were helpful at check-in, rooms are nice and clean. The bed was very comfy with great pillows. Location is exceptional, so much going on around you. The Wilson’s car parking is very close by with large car park bays.
A spontaneous romantic dinner cruise booking led to a quick stay in the city. We chose the Mercure initially because of price and locality. However, from the friendly greeting upon arrival to the comfortable, spacious room and the morning coffee, our stay was flawless. Next time, no need to search, we know the Mercure is waiting for us. Has had a bit of a much needed makeover from the old Travelodge days, rooms are comfortable (except for the sofa). I am definitely not a fan of the check-in/check-out touchscreens. Had to speak with reception on both check-in and check-out, but needed to use the screens regardless for both. Might work for a simple booking, but seemed unnecessary for us. I paid for 2 nights accommodation and parking on check-in, but was subsequently charged again for the first night accommodation and parking. Still waiting for the refund... pretty poor.
Good location easy walking distance to many key locations for us. Good price. Comfortable rooms. Basic buffet breakfast. Quick service for in-house dining. Minor complaint: Frustrated we were not allowed to use the stairs to access our first floor room when a tour group arrived and blocked the lifts for 20 mins at 11pm.
Checked into our room with 2 young kids at 12:30pm, When speaking to cleaner which was cleaning the room next door, I asked him to please make up our foldout bed for my young son and informed him that the in room safe needed new batteries which he said would be done straight away. On our return 4 hrs later, no bed made up, No new batteries and safe not work and no linen for 3rd person. Hotel management need to train staff in customer service.
