It was an extremely convenient location. We had city views, which were lovely. Very quiet. Couldn't hear any outside traffic at all. Unsure about the room cleanliness. There was hair on the roof in the bathroom, and marks on the wall that looked suspicious... Room was spacious, and bed was fairly comfy. One of the lights had a strobe-like flicker, which was a little alarming. Video included. No issues with service because you check-in yourself on a screen in the lobby, so no need to interact with anyone. You drop your room key in a box when leaving. There's a Cafe and toilets in the lobby, and comfy couches. Taxis hovering outside. The room was very cheap (160) considering how close it is to Melbourne cbd.
Very nice size rooms with good quality beds. They could do with adding a tea towel and some dish washing liquid to make it easier to do the dishes though. Lots and lots to do available around. Only a 3 minute walk to the river to go and do a river cruise. Good safety feature of non opening windows. Very walkable. In the heart of the Southbank precinct and lots around and easy to get everywhere. Lots and lots of places to eat and drink in only a short walk. Also, easy to get food delivered and they also have their own restaurant in which you can have dinner, lunch and breakfast and order room service which you have to pickup at reception. Lovely and attentive staff. Calm and friendly. Well presented hotel over all. They also have do it yourself check in and check out machines which look pretty cool. Overall great experience staying here, good price too. Would definitely stay here again.
They have multiple check-in stations where you can fill in the information yourself, with someone standing by to help out too. Having booked online prior to our arrival, check-in was quick and easy. I enjoyed this as it simplified everything, and before you know it, you're heading to your room. The room was spacious and clean. While the views weren’t particularly outstanding, this wasn’t really important. The location is great, and it's easy to access various forms of transportation. There's also a 7/11 just around the corner where you can buy essentials and a Myki card for public transport. We also did a tour and this hotel was one of the pick-up spots, so that was a massive bonus! Overall, the hotel had polite and helpful staff, was clean, well-located, and reasonably priced.
The location was great but that was the only positive. Mould in the bathroom, pillows that were best described as being ‘dead’, very limited supplies (tea coffee etc), no spare blanket etc. We had to chase up the cleaner to service the room. All in all, a budget hotel at a non budget price.
Easy access to the Hotel coming in from the Southeast. Great to have parking close by. Excellent location for doing activities in the city. Walk to the city center, NGV, Botanic Gardens, DFO etc. Check in was super easy. Rooms a clean and comfortable and all shower amenities were there. Loved the little kitchenette however, as there were plates, cutlery cups etc, would be nice to have some dishwashing liquid, sponge and tea towel to clean up. I would suggest a toaster to round out the amenities for the kitchenette. Tried to phone the Hotel a number of times leading up to our stay, however the phone was never answered, ie: one call was on hold for over 40 mins before I had to hang up. However, the staff at the Hotel were extremely helpful. I would definitely recommend Mercure for a short stay in the city.
