It’s a difficult review this one. The food was good, the view amazing but the service was sterile and robotic. After some cocktails, we opted for the Chefs menu. $130ph and we would leave it to the Chef. The starters were great. Oysters beautiful. The Mains were good. Not great. And for the money a steak and piece of Salmon didn’t really tick the value equation or wow factor. Dessert was good and they acknowledged our Wedding Anniversary. The service. Well this was a let down. There seemed to be a constant pressure to clear plates that we were still grazing on and getting the next course served. The timing was just off. Then at 8:23pm the waitress handed us the bill and informed us the table was booked at 8:30pm so we needed to finish up. We were still finishing our dessert! So hurriedly we finished up. We then requested if we could go the bar area and have another drink. No problems but we needed to settle the dinner bill first. Odd. Then in the bar area we were treated like brand new customers and the waiter who had served half of our dinner went through the cocktail menu again! It seemed to be just about the process without connecting at all with the customers. For the money - expected better service and it detracted from the experience. Also a $35.00 charge to guarantee a window seat?.When the place is not full that is not justified. And when we left after 9pm our table was still vacant.
Nice place for the restaurant and view, pet friendly as well. However, the hotel experience and customer service honestly was horrible and will not go back again, manager doesn’t know how to solve the parking problem, bad communication and welcoming service, restaurant for new year eve was fantastic, the crazy pup style was not what we expected, but then there’s a quiet side we can just hang out, sit and talk. ❤️ or you can book the restaurant late till the time of fireworks 🎆
I went to Strato for a romantic dinner with my boyfriend. I first ordered the Violet cocktail. It tasted like straight flowers and overall wasn’t terrible, but there were some suspicious sparkles in it and it was a 29 dollars! Then, I ordered the risotto. I cannot begin to explain how awful that risotto was. It tasted like 2 dollar ramen noodles with no flavor. I decided to give it a fair shot and ate a couple of bites, and had to stop. When we came home, I felt insanely sick. I’ve been nauseous for almost 2 hours and I know it was because of the risotto. Like another review said, that risotto was a liability. The view was cool tho and the waiter was nice.
I brought my best friend, who flew in from another state for her birthday. Based on the photos and videos I saw online, I thought this would be the ideal place to celebrate her special day. The view and atmosphere are absolutely stunning! Staffs were friendly. You really can't go wrong with a bottle of Veuve, but it was served at room temperature. Why? However, the food was disappointing. We had caviar, and I had never seen it served with crumbled boiled eggs, king salmon, and chips that clearly came from a frozen bag. The crab timbale had a flavour reminiscent of canned tuna. Food overall was mediocre except for the risotto. That was delicious!
My friend celebrated her birthday at Strato Melbourne, and it was my first time visiting— what an amazing experience! The food was absolutely delicious, the service was warm and attentive, and the ambiance was just perfect. From the stunning views to the elegant setting, everything made the celebration feel special. Highly recommend for a memorable dining experience in Melbourne!
