Get up close and personal with Western Australia's spectacular marine life on an underwater journey as you go from the icy waters of the Southern Ocean all the way to the tropical wonderland of corals and marine life in the Far North.
AQWA Perth is a privately owned company committed to inspiring awe and respect for the unique marine life of Western Australia. When it opened in 1988, it was Australia's largest aquarium.
The Aquarium of Western Australia is divided into five distinct areas, each with its own theme to explore. The Shipwreck Coast is a walk-through aquarium with giant sharks, octopuses, stingrays and other amazing creatures. It incorporates the largest acrylic underwater walk-through tunnel in Australia. The jewel in this aquarium's crown is the Coral Reef — one of the largest living coral reef exhibits in the world.
Situated in the heart of Hillarys Boat Harbour, AQWA Australia is a unique setting for all types of social and business events. There are plenty of venue options for a unique AQWA wedding or corporate function, all of which boast stunning views of the harbour and the Indian Ocean or of the colourful world of sea creatures and coral reefs. Whether you're hosting an intimate dinner or a lavish AQWA birthday party, the events team will work with you to turn any of the various AQWA function spaces into your dream event setting. All AQWA functions are held in the two indoor AQWA functions spaces, underwater tunnel and AQWA conference centre. Each of these venues features gorgeous Indian Ocean sunsets or the underwater world of fascinating marine life as the backdrop. Choose from different AQWA wedding packages or events packages that will suit your budget and event requirements.

Cool little aquarium located about 25 minutes north of the Perth CBD. Admission prices were fairly reasonable (compared to east coast prices). On a Wednesday the aquarium wasn't too busy. The underwater tunnel was a bit congested but overall wasn't too bad. We managed to see the Stingray feeding which was really cool! The coral was realty nice too.
Smaller than I remember when I was a kid but our kids loved it. They got to see so many different sea creatures and pet and touch baby sharks and starfish. They loved the huge aquarium at the bottom and they serve some good food options; or you can walk across to Hillarys main area.
The aquarium has a good structure and offers an interesting environment. It's possible to see various types of fish and jellyfish illuminated by fluorescent light, allowing us to see color details that wouldn't be visible under normal light. There are also sea turtles, sharks, etc., which we can observe up close in large aquariums that we pass underneath. The entire visit lasted about 2 hours. I recommend the visit for both adults and children.
Great place to go with the kids, went early on a Sunday morning and didn't have to wait to enter. It does get crowded and there's not much in the touch pool. It's a good 2 hours of entertainment for the kids, finding a parking spot can be difficult and there's a lot of stairs but there is an elevator (if it's not too crowded it can be used). Workers are knowledgeable and nice.
the Aqwa Aquarium offers an enriching experience for visitors of all ages, combining entertainment with education and a focus on marine conservation. It's a worthwhile destination for anyone interested in exploring the wonders of the Western Australia’s marine life.
