•The AQWA (Aquarium of Western Australia) is an aquatic wonderland that will transform any event into an underwater dream come true! Get up close and personal with Western Australia's spectacular marine life on an underwater journey as you go from the icy waters of the Southern Ocean all the way to the tropical wonderland of corals and marine life in the Far North.
AQWA Perth is a privately owned company committed to inspiring awe and respect for the unique marine life of Western Australia. When it opened in 1988, it was Australia's largest aquarium.
The Aquarium of Western Australia is divided into five distinct areas, each with its own theme to explore. The Shipwreck Coast is a walk-through aquarium with giant sharks, octopuses, stingrays and other amazing creatures. It incorporates the largest acrylic underwater walk-through tunnel in Australia. The jewel in this aquarium's crown is the Coral Reef — one of the largest living coral reef exhibits in the world.
Situated in the heart of Hillarys Boat Harbour, AQWA Australia is a unique setting for all types of social and business events. There are plenty of venue options for a unique AQWA wedding or corporate function, all of which boast stunning views of the harbour and the Indian Ocean or of the colourful world of sea creatures and coral reefs. Whether you're hosting an intimate dinner or a lavish AQWA birthday party, the events team will work with you to turn any of the various AQWA function spaces into your dream event setting. All AQWA functions are held in the two indoor AQWA functions spaces, underwater tunnel and AQWA conference centre. Each of these venues features gorgeous Indian Ocean sunsets or the underwater world of fascinating marine life as the backdrop. Choose from different AQWA wedding packages or events packages that will suit your budget and event requirements.
I love everything about this place, as does my daughter ♥️ their are so many different species of sea life 🧬 it is truly astounding. The gift shop might be a bit of a leap when it comes to it's prices but the cafe is worth every bite of its food. There are plenty of photo opportunities for the kids and family. The touch pool is a different experience entirely, teaching both kids and adults hands on about our astonishing sea life and it's ecosystems. You can also book to dine under the sea, a dream-like experience with top tier five star ⭐ dishes. The aquarium itself was built so beautifully and sophisticatedly, their are different sections for different types of sea life. My personal favourite is the massive viewing window downstairs outside, You can sit in the seats provided and watch hundreds of different fish 🐠🐟 and coral life living in one massive tank, co-existing and living peacefully. The room is so peaceful and dimely lit it's almost possible to fall asleep. Another "must-see" exhibit is "The mantis shrimp" these amazing creatures have the biggest blows of the ocean 🌊💪🏻 small but mighty and Beautiful in color (rainbow). The service at aqua is amazing with no waits or lines usually, unless you're in the gift shop or cafe. Most of the exhibits are educational aswell so you learn as you explore. They have it all here, it's definitely a must see destination.
The aquarium was so cool! It had a glow in the dark feel to it. My friend and I really enjoyed it, as we saw many different sea creatures such as clown fish, sea dragon, stingray and shark. It was nice to see all the kids with their parents enjoy it so much too, as it adds to the positive vibe. Also a very close walk from the Hillarys Boat Harbour too~
A great place to visit, especially if you have young kids. It's perfect for a weekend trip during the summer. They have their own café, but if you'd like more options, you can walk to Breakwater, which is within walking distance. There are plenty of interactive and educational tools for children to learn about marine life. Definitely a good destination for families with young kids.
AQWA is a wonderful experience! The underwater tunnel is truly breathtaking, and the exhibits showcase Western Australia’s marine life beautifully. My daughter especially enjoyed the touch pools, and the whole place was clean, well-organized, and engaging. It’s not the largest aquarium I’ve visited, but it’s definitely a must-see in Perth.
Really good aquarium with stunning scenery flowing through the plentiful things you could do. Recommended to bring kids for a fun day out, especially with food and interactive experiences near the end of the aquarium. Be warned, could be a bit crowded on some days and times so be sure to book in advance. Make sure to take photos to remember it.
