AQWA Perth is a privately owned company committed to inspiring awe and respect for the unique marine life of Western Australia. When it opened in 1988, it was Australia's largest aquarium.
The Aquarium of Western Australia is divided into five distinct areas, each with its own theme to explore. The Shipwreck Coast is a walk-through aquarium with giant sharks, octopuses, stingrays and other amazing creatures. It incorporates the largest acrylic underwater walk-through tunnel in Australia. The jewel in this aquarium's crown is the Coral Reef — one of the largest living coral reef exhibits in the world.
Situated in the heart of Hillarys Boat Harbour, AQWA Australia is a unique setting for all types of social and business events. There are plenty of venue options for a unique AQWA wedding or corporate function, all of which boast stunning views of the harbour and the Indian Ocean or of the colourful world of sea creatures and coral reefs. All AQWA functions are held in the two indoor AQWA functions spaces, underwater tunnel and AQWA conference centre. Extremely great place for both adults and children alike! There’s a lot of cool aquatic life for everyone to enjoy whilst learning about them on informational plaques. Furthermore, the staff here are really friendly and informative about the different marine life.
Nice quick trip with plenty to see.. will spend around 3-4hrs worth. The tunnel was lovely and not congested, even on weekends. The VIP tour looks interesting and has special behind the scenes. Food at the cafe is bit pricey but nonetheless tasty. friendly and helpful staff. Good place for a bday party..
The aquarium is amazing and easy to move around with baby in a stroller. The tunnel was amazing, and not to crowded. There is so much interesting sea animals. The only downfall is the gift shop is so expensive.
The only proper aquarium in our little city of Perth. The lady doing the entry tickets was a little rude. The facility had very interesting and informative exhibits of various different marine life, especially specific to Australia. We had an amazing see-through boat tour on top of the tunnel system, it was definitely worth the little extra. I learnt a lot of things I otherwise wouldn’t have known about Australia marine life. Like how grey nurse sharks love chilling above the sea bed or that I share personality with a flat back sea turtle.
The aquarium is a little smaller than others we have visited, but interesting nonetheless, and good for the little ones. The tunnel underneath the sharks and rays was a nice addition, and there were plenty of varied aquarium rooms highlighting different areas of WA marine life. There's a few indoor and outdoor exhibits which was good too. Most of the staff were friendly, although the lady on the entry tickets was a little rude.
