We stayed over Xmas and New Year, so the hotel was very lively. It's got strengths and weaknesses depending on your needs. Rooms are pretty basic and quite old in decor, but they were fine. Food was fairly average. Buffet breakfast was expensive for what it was. After a couple of days, we went out for breakfast locally, where there are lots of great places nearby. However, it did the job perfectly well overall and is well placed in the town. Overall value at that time of year was not brilliant. Would we stay again - yes, but we will look around for our next trip to Freo.
Really enjoyed my short break to Western Australia staying here. Location is perfect. Close to train station, buses are very regular and closeby. The garden view room was a winner with a lovely big balcony overlooking the gorgeous green garden across the street. I lounged next to one of the pools but only swam at the local beaches. (Indian ocean ftw). This hotel is a well serviced and friendly place to stay and I do not hesitate to recommend it. Loved that the room had a bath (didn't use it but loved that it was available). Amazing block out blinds, spacious room and lovely restaurant and room service facilities.
***DANGER***. We booked 2 rooms, for 2 nights. Black mould in bathrooms and a/c vents, ceiling was rotted and dripping water onto carpet, and mould in the hallways. We informed the Indian “manager” and he laughed and said “that’s your opinion”. Eventually we moved to another 2 rooms and surprise surprise more black mould. Very dangerous stuff especially for our child who suffers bad allergies. (Peel hospital got evacuated and shut down for presence of black mould). We ended up leaving after being there for only 3 hours, being promised a full refund. 3 days later, still no refund. Ruined my daughter’s birthday, which we travelled from far away to celebrate at this filthy hole. This place needs to be shut down, as it is a danger to people’s health. I hope WA Health Department follows this up, as it has been reported. Also management staff need to be put on the unemployment list because of their bad attitude and lies. DO NOT STAY HERE, it’s safer in a tent at the park across the road.
The hotel is fantastic. My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights and the location was minutes away to many great eateries, market and the coast area (where we had Kailis' fish and chips). The rooms are quiet, clean and the spacious. The only issue I had was that the balcony door's lock wasn't working and one could actually climbed through the balcony from the neighbouring rooms (if bold enough). I did not make a fuss of this tho, and did not lost anything or felt unsafe during my stay. we thoroughly enjoyed our stay/sleep here.
The rooms were OK, nothing special, and fairly outdated now. Bed was comfortable. For 300 a night, we felt very underwhelmed compared to other hotels we have stayed at recently for much cheaper. I don’t think we will return.
