Booked two rooms and had a one night stay here with friends. We attended a function at Fremantle Sailing Club, returned to the hotel just before 11.30 intending to have a nightcap before returning to our rooms to retire for the night. Nope! The bar was closed and no-one in sight except for two tables, one of 5 and the other of 6 people who said they would have liked more beers but the bar was closed. Very disappointing indeed. Whilst we were chatting to 3 girls celebrating a 21st birthday we were approached by a staff member who told us to keep the noise down. As we were leaving to go back to our rooms a couple of ladies were going to play the piano and were told by another staff member to leave the piano alone. It's a Saturday night. People are out and about celebrating whatever occasion brings them to Fremantle and a night away from home at the Esplanade. A night in a backpacker's hostel probably would have been more fun and a hell of a lot cheaper. We won't bother coming back to this particular establishment in Freo, we'll go somewhere else where we're made to feel welcome and can have a late nightcap. No complaints about the comfort of our room, just the "hospitality" (or lack thereof) provided. PS...........we are all well into our 70's - not a bunch of yahoos looking to create havoc!.
Best location, walking to everywhere. Room was old especially the lights switches were not working. The main switch was near the door not near the bed. The charging slots were also far. It was safe and good stay as a solo female traveler. Peaceful at night.
I am not one to complain or write reviews good or bad. However there had been several issues (within a 3-4 day period) whilst staying at Esplanade Fremantle. The second night here there was a cockroach in the bathroom. Early one morning there was drilling + sawing directly above our room. The morning after, coming back to the room there was a strong chemical smell, initially I thought this was bug spray but after a visit to the balcony saw painters directly above the room. The safe has jammed twice. The engineer took the whole thing out and eventually managed to open it and reset it. The next day it jammed again. We cannot use it now. We spoke to reception re the bugs and construction and she assured me I would get a call later in the evening to discuss spraying the room - no phone back. To date we have been offered two drinks vouchers and to move room tonight - we are staying in a king spa room... Hotel affiliated parking is very expensive. $30 per day (until 12 noon, not full 24hrs), this is at the discounted rate ($50 normally) and at a car park that appears far more expensive than any others in Fremantle (albeit much closer to the hotel). The hotel staff have been pleasant to deal with.
Unfortunately the bath room floor had long black hair left behind. Pretty clear the bath room floor was not cleaned. Other than that the towels were lovely and soft and the bed was very comfy. Staff were nice and when I informed them about the hair they were very apologetic and offered free drink cards, which was a nice gesture. It’s a great location with everything you need walking distance. We had dinner there the fish was beautiful fresh and tasty.
We were utterly disappointed in this hotel, rooms are tired and dirty, hotel was also dirty. Mould found all throughout bathroom and on pillow. We were meant to stay two nights but cancelled the second night. We paid 500 a night expecting a much better experience. What a waste of money. Do not recommend this hotel.
