The name Stamford hotel should draw luxury to your mind and for the cost you should expect it, however what we paid for and what we got, I stayed at nicer places cheaper. The elevator situation is horrendous, and even didn't work at some points during the stay this means that we couldn't access the amenities such as the pool or the gym. When we called to see if there were stairs we could go down (as we didn't want to set off alarms) that took 2 of us calling and 10mins to get hold of someone who said yes use the stairs, They apologised but offered nothing else. Then the room was spacious however the bathroom was small. Shower tiles were unclean and mold on the ceiling. We had one fire sprinkle in the roof the other (well I hope it should have been) the other was just a tissue in the ceiling to cover what was there. There is a old school phone in the room but no room service menu (however they print a welcome letter for you, so it's not about the environment). When we scanned the barcode for room service the 3 restaurants came up but not one you could navigate to order room service from. You have to pay $30 for parking your car there. We spoke to reception calmly and politely and was only told sorry and they would pass to management which I am unsure that happened. I would say pay for another hotel and don't stay here. Not recommended.

Anyone looking to stay here be warned the car park is horrific, no lifts working and they still slug you $30 a day. The breakfast is a ludicrous $40pp if you don’t book (which is ridiculous given guests should pay the discounted rate). The hotel lifts are tiny and take FOREVER, be prepared to wait 45 minutes in the mornings during peak season, not ideal when you have loads of people with suitcases wanting to checkout all at once. The view from my window was a brick wall which was a shame given I paid for 3 nights! Overall the hotel is in a fantastic location, rooms are clean and housekeeping staff very friendly and efficient.

Great location, but overall a bit disappointing. The lifts were the main issue. One of three out of action, but the other two not working properly either. Waited 15 minutes for a lift before dragging all our luggage down 6 flights of stairs to check out. Throughtout our 2 night stay, we had to go up to floor 20 from floor 6 just to then go down to the ground floor at least 3 times. We also waited over an hour and a half for a simple room service lunch (just wedges and satay sticks) and when I called after an hour, was told it was 'being prepared'. Another 40 minutes later it arrived - stone cold and the wrong satays. (Ate it anyway - was starving by then!) Along with that, rooms are a bit dated, the phone next to the bed wasn't even plugged in and the toilet seat was wobbly. We did have some very lovely staff interactions and only a couple that were dismissive, and they sorted out an issue that I caused myself by making a mistake with the booking, so that was great. Not an unpleasant stay, but the lifts in particular soured the experience, and given we were expecting 4-5 star quality for the cost per night, we won't be returning.

The rooms were clean and the location was just awesome. In the middle of the buzzling city life, right opposite to the train station and next to the happening place like Rundle mall. It was a dream place to live in. Moreover, the Sky City casino was also a small walk away. I would love to come back here.

Sadly, I have to say I was severely disappointed with this stay and can honestly state that Stamford Plaza has fallen. I used to work for Stamford Plaza Melbourne and back then we held standards that were not seen here at Adelaide with this stay. Room Service - We had pizzas brought to the room, 1 of the pizzas was still raw (as in un melted cheese and soggy base) and cold on the center. I called and asked for a fresh pizza, I even asked if the fresh pizza could have no fresh tomato or herbs on it. When the new pizza arrived, it was, again, a pre-made pizza with fresh tomato and herbs on it that had simply been heated up. When I was in my second year chef apprenticeship, I remember being grilled by my sous chef that "we are a 5 star hotel, which means that if the customer wants something made, as long as we have the ingredients, it will get made". Clearly, this is not the case here. On the second night, we waited over an hour for a bowl of wedges, something I would have been screamed at back in Melbourne. Considering the prices for room service ($21.00 for a bowling of wedges), you would think the food would be excellent quality and the service would be on point. Additionally, on check out, we got to play the enjoyable game of "wait for the elevator". There we stood, at the entry to our elevators, for 38 minutes before finally getting one. There were 3 elevators, of which we only ever saw the middle elevators working. Overall, if Stamford Plaza Adelaide are calling them a 5 star hotel (I'm not sure if they are or aren't) they need to ensure they drop it down from 5 stars. For the prices they charge for quite basic rooms, they need to step up their game.
