Have not been back to the South City Wine for a while so arranged a weekday first Table dinner there last night. We arrived punctually at 05:00 pm and there were already two tables being occupied. After perused the menu, we requested to have the oysters even thought we needed to pay full price for them; however, it was still a very good deal for just $2.00 each. It was because they are running special deal for this price at a specific time and date. Then we also ordered another sardine ‘tinnie’ dish for mum as her entree. It seems that this restaurant focuses on serving French cuisine so we ordered two dish of steak frites and a special dish of fish pie. When the two dozens of oysters came to the table, they looked spectacular. The Tasmania oysters were so large, fresh and crispy. Our taste buds were totally satisfied. The tinnie was not bad at all, in which the sardines were tasteful and were perfectly matched by the accompanied condiments and breads. Afterward, the main courses came tot he table, steaks were perfectly rested and prepared in med rare. Having said that, the fish pie was even better, which was the hero of the night. Portion was generous and the sea perch was so nice prepared in a creamy sauce, which was covered by nice the pastry. The pastry consisted of a golden-brown and crispy outside, a soft and tender inside , and a rich, buttery smell. It was really an unforgettable nice dinner.

South City is a lovely and inviting bar and restaurant. We went on a Sunday and had a glass of Riesling and glass of the South City recommended Margaret River Chardonnay. Both were excellent and paired well with the 18 freshly shucked oysters that were on Sunday special for $2 each. The mignonette for the oysters was also very good. We then shared a wagyu burger a side salad and some truffle. All were excellent. We had a vesper Martini and a Bloody Mary to close out the meal. Best Bloody Mary in Brisbane! Must try.

The service was excellent! The staff were really attentive and welcoming, and the service was impeccable, the dishes arrived at exactly the right time. The burrata was creamy and the butcher cut was simply amazing! The desserts (pannacotta and tiramisu) were excellent as well! Plus, the ambiance of the restaurant is really nice, chill and fancy, with really nice French music in the background.

Last Friday night, we dined at South City Wine, and it was such a great vibe. We brought our puppy with us, and the staff were so friendly; they even brought a bed and water for him. The service was attentive, and the wine was excellent. The highlights of the night were the l’orange sauce and the venison tartare. The duck breast was cooked perfectly, though the sides were a bit disappointing. The potato bake was nice and creamy inside but slightly overcooked (almost burnt) on the outside. I was excited to try the pistachio profiteroles, but they were a bit too crispy and overcooked. Overall, it was a really good experience, and we’ll definitely be back to try other dishes on the menu.

Everyone has been so lovely and accomodating! Food was a 10/10! Venue is stunning. Everything we’ve ordered did not miss at all. My friend who has never had escargot instantly loved it. Highly recommend! Thank you to everyone at South City!
