Reviews for Novotel Brisbane South Bank

This was by far the nicest Novotel I have ever stayed in. Thien, who checked us in, was wonderful — after arriving exhausted from our flight from England, she personally came up to the pool area to let us know our room was ready early, which absolutely delighted us. I enjoyed a tasty coffee in the lobby, and although I didn’t order food, everything looked great. The hotel was spotless, stylish, and in the perfect location — close to everything yet peaceful and relaxing, with a playground just across the park. The rooms were very clean and spacious, with quiet air conditioning and a special view of the city and the South Bank wheel. The restaurant and bar were excellent as well. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again if I’m ever back in Brisbane — 10/10, thank you very much.

This was by far the nicest Novotel I have ever stayed in. Firstly, Thien who checked us in was wonderful. We’d just arrived from England and were exhausted after our flight, Thien personally came up to the pool area to tell us we could check in early and the room was ready, we were absolutely ecstatic and her service was amazing. I had a tasty coffee in the lobby, I didn’t order any food but could see it looked good. The rooms were very clean and spacious, nice quiet air con and a really special view of the city and the South Bank wheel. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again if I’m ever back in Brisbane, 10/10, thank you very much

Service was always friendly at this Novotel and the gym in the South Bank hotel is larger than most hotels I've stayed at and if you want to get in a workout the gym is a pretty decent size, and you can get some weighted chest presses in and weighted lat pull chest or low rows done, or just jump on the treadmill. The gym is also facilitated with some towels. The food at this hotel is fantastic 5 stars to their chef and their breakfast and lattes were also great. But the hotel lost 1 point in this review because my bed was never made properly, it looked like the staff just pulled the doona cover back over the bed without straightening the sheet in the bed. The team at reception are friendly and helpful and the luggage storage option is also handy too if you're checking out early but not leaving until the afternoon.

Service from all staff members was really great. The buffet breakfast was one of the best I've EVER been to. Beds were the most comfortable out of any hotel on our 2.5 week vacation around Australia. Downside is the room is small and the bathroom is open with a sliding wall which is not ideal for privacy. This is not clearly shown in photos and was a disappointment to discover.

My husband booked a dinner and overnight stay at this hotel recently for my birthday. The restaurant served me raw salmon and a side serve of mash which was almost cold, They took it back and started again. It took 25 minutes for them to reproduce the meal by which time my husband had finished his meal. I felt silly eating by myself as part of my birthday treat, The fish was now so overdone that it was inedible and the mash was again cold. They offered us free desserts. Rather than getting on with that, the whole kitchen staff were having a conference and no one was attending to our desserts and coffee. After waiting another 18 minutes, we decided to leave. Also by this time, there was no one left at the restaurant and it really was no longer a nice atmosphere. We went to the counter to pay and the manager got upset with us for not waiting ‘5 minutes’. That was a lie. It was not 5 minutes but the fact that he could say that may explain why this restaurant doesn’t work. We went to our room and thought we’d get some dessert as room service, No luck. Room service closes at 9 pm. We then thought we would cheer ourselves up by watching a Rowan Atkinson movie. No luck again, it was in French. The next morning we went to breakfast. Normally when you check in, the hotel offers you breakfast at a reduced rate. That was not done for us. When we checked out I told the staff member that it wasn’t offered to us at check in, which would have saved $18. She said that yes, that should have been done.. But did she offer an $18 reduction? No. We go to Brisbane at least once a month but we will not be staying at this place again.
