Great food, great place, good atmosphere and Miles served us upstairs. He did a great job. I don't always leave five star reviews but this is worth it.

Newly renovated heritage pub established in 1888. Lovely ambience, great food and cocktails. Service is top notch!

The new renovation is superb with so many seating areas. Even though the food looked fabulous on the menu, I think they need a bit more experience with their flavours. I had the burrata cheese but the flavours and the serving were all wrong! My friend had the smoked Barra and it also had was not done right, the idea and description didn’t quite add up to flavour. But it won’t put me off going and trying other dishes :)

The Palace was a bit of a dive before the renovations. Post renovations what transformation, well done! The staff were very attentive and polite, food was good. The Sports Bar down stairs is a refreshed Sports bar, which is an improvement. Upstairs the atmosphere was better, more relaxing, it would have been great if there was no TVs upstairs. I don't understand the need for the TVs upstairs, they are not needed. The TVs upstairs just make it a posh Sports Bar, turn them off please. It's nice for people to just talk upstairs without the distraction and noise!!! To finish on a positive note, the background music upstairs was at a good volume so people could still talk to each other without shouting at each other.

No wheelchair access, next to no ‘service’ and more than 45 minutes to get our first beverage! We were recommended to check out the renovated upstairs aka Josephine’s Lounge. We booked a table, although we were the only people for the first couple of hours so it wasn’t really necessary. The first disappointment is that the entire upstairs floor is not accessible if you have mobility issues. We ordered our food via the QR code as instructed by the server. The food “sharing plates” arrived after about 30 minutes and were put on the table and the staff left. No cutlery, no small plates for us to actually “share our food” until we went downstairs and asked for them. After 45 minutes and following up with the 1 member of bar staff that eventually appeared, we finally got our drinks. Slowly additional members of our group arrived and more share plates were ordered. Again, we had to ask for additional cutlery and side plates - These however never appeared. Finally, we didn’t think that it was fitting to have the large sports tv’s on/blaring in this part of the venue. It was offputting watching the bloody faces of the boxers while trying to eat! Needless to say, none of us will be returning any time soon.
