Traveled with my daughter for a city staycay for her birthday. They made her night so special, we got a high room, balloons, teddies and a special card and choccies on her bed. They really made her night. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the pool is great - we got a sweet spot and had the pool to ourselves. Only negative we found was a light that flashes above the bed (we had the 2 double beds) and the door had a decent gap (one side) so the hall light peaked through and also noted the sound to hallway was a bit more than I remember from hotel rooms. Breakfast was great - their auto coffee machine was a hard pass for me but couldn't fault anything else. You can order eggs to your liking easily and the pancake machine was a hit with my daughter.

I recently stayed at Dorsett Melbourne and came away with mixed feelings. There were definitely some things the hotel did very well, but there were also several disappointing aspects that fell short of what I'd expect from a hotel of this standard. The check-in experience was excellent. The staff were friendly, welcoming and professional, creating a great first impression. The hotel's location is also a real advantage, with easy access to public transport and the city. The room itself was comfortable enough, but it lacked even the most basic amenities. There was no shower cap, toothbrush, cotton buds or other small toiletries that are commonly provided in hotels of this calibre. Another issue was a noticeable sewage smell in the room, which was sometimes quite strong. Housekeeping also seemed below the standard I would expect. I was also surprised there was no minibar or even snacks available in the room. Despite this, the hotel placed a $200 hold on my credit card for incidentals. Since there was virtually nothing available to purchase, I struggled to understand the reason for such a large deposit. One thing the hotel did exceptionally well was accommodating our very early 5:00 am departure. They kindly arranged a takeaway breakfast box, which was a thoughtful gesture. It included pastries, an apple and a small bowl of cereal. Unfortunately, no milk was provided, so I'm not sure how they expected guests to eat the cereal other than straight from the packet The included breakfast each morning was very good, with a nice selection of food, and the breakfast staff were friendly, attentive and accommodating. Overall, Dorsett Melbourne has excellent staff and a convenient location, but there are several areas that need improvement. Addressing the room amenities, housekeeping standards and the odour issue would make a significant difference to the overall guest experience.

I was really excited to stay here after reading good reviews and even hearing from someone personally that it was really nice. Unfortunately left feeling a little dissapointed in our stay. The room itself was ok - our room was only on level 3 and looked directly out at a carpark which wasn't ideal for the $300+ spent for the night. The main problem we had was the smell. Our bathroom smelled rank. To the point that I was in and out of there as quickly as possible each time and had to keep the door closed at all times. The staff at the front desk were lovely and it was really sweet that they hand out teddies to the children upon arrival. Some of the staff int he restaurant didn't seem like they wanted to be there. (I say only some as there were also some that were really nice and helpful). Being mothers day it was a very busy morning, and they struggled to stay on top of the food. But the food iteslf was reasonble. All in all I would say it was ok - but I don't think I'd book again.

Wonderful stay! The team went above and beyond for my birthday – lovely handwritten cards, sparkling wine, chocolates and a sweet balloon surprise waiting in my room. Everything was spotless, modern and comfortable, and the staff’s warm, thoughtful care made my day so special. Highly recommended!

I had such a lovely experience at Dorsett Melbourne, especially because of Khushi at reception. I was very sick during my stay, and she went above and beyond to help me. She helped me with my luggage, checked in on me to make sure I was okay, and even paid for Panadol for me when my card was not working and I could not buy it from the vending machine. Even when I offered to pay her back, she kindly refused. She also gave me drink vouchers when I signed up as a member. She is such a sweet, caring, and thoughtful person. Dorsett Melbourne is truly lucky to have staff like her. I really hope to stay at the hotel again because my experience was amazing, and all the staff were so good. A big shoutout to Khushi for her kindness and outstanding service.
