A popular spot for office workers at lunchtime and for groups of friends or colleagues in the evening. The menu features the typical dishes you’d expect from a Mexican restaurant, along with a good selection of drinks. Service is impressively quick given the number of guests during lunch hours, but booking in advance is highly recommended; otherwise, you may face a long wait before being seated.
Had dinner at Fonda Flinders Street last night and everything was spot on. Service was friendly and the food came out quickly. The tacos were excellent – especially the Baja Snapper, Crispy Prawn, and Grilled Chicken. The Lamb Shoulder Quesadilla and the new Slow Cooked Beef Birria were packed with flavour, and the Tasmanian Lamb Burrito was another highlight. We also really enjoyed the Jalapeno Cheese Bites and the Smoky Mac & Cheese Croquettes. Great experience overall – we’ll definitely be coming back.
We recently ordered a lunch pack from Fonda Mexican for 25 people, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The food was incredibly tasty, fresh, and authentically Mexican! Every single person loved it.The packaging was done exceptionally well, making distribution easy and ensuring everything arrived in perfect condition. A special mention to Adiel, the General Manager, who was absolutely fantastic to deal with. He was extremely patient, understanding, and accommodating, especially with multiple order changes. Adiel kept me constantly updated, offered us a great rate, and made the entire process smooth and stress free. His professionalism and customer service truly stood out! We highly recommend Fonda Mexican to any company or organisation looking to arrange corporate lunches or dinners. Amazing food, excellent service, and a team that genuinely cares. We’ll definitely be ordering again! On behalf of CIEE Melbourne a big thank you to Adiel and his team!
The food itself was good and tasted nice, but unfortunately the overall experience was disappointing. Portion sizes were pretty small for the price, which made it hard to feel satisfied. We also had to wait at the door for around 15 minutes before being seated, despite there being no clear explanation for the delay. The menu was very misleading. When I ordered the “feast” option, several extra charges were added that were not clearly specified on the menu. This included an additional charge for making the nachos beef, which was confusing as it ended up costing more than the standard beef nachos option. The lack of transparency around pricing really took away from the experience. Overall, decent food, but poor value for money and unclear menu pricing left a sour taste.
Food was generally good but my fave was definitely the prawn taco. Very nicely seasoned, and well complemented by the pineapple salsa. The mushroom taco was a bit too oily, so the taco ends up becoming quite soggy.
