We are proud to announce a triumphant success in winning the coveted tender for catering and venue management at the iconic Melbourne Town Hall as of July 1st 2024. This landmark partnership marks a significant milestone in Showtime Event Group’s illustrious journey and signals a new era for Melbourne’s iconic event space. Melbourne was officially incorporated as a town on 13th December 1835, but it was not until 13 years later that the stunning Town Hall was completed in the Second Empire Style in 1887. This imposing design is credited to local firm Joseph Reed and Barnes, who also designed the stunning State Library Victoria and Royal Exhibition Hall within the Melbourne CBD. The second floor of this incredible building is still the working administrative seat of the City of Melbourne, housing the offices of our Lord Mayor.

Melbourne Town Hall Function Rooms
Main Hall
Main Hall is one of Melbourne Town Hall’s most impressive and glamorous event spaces: the perfect home for a gala fundraiser or opulent dinner. Imagine guest arrival through the gleaming marble foyer, with beautiful stained glass windows, indulging in canapes and arrival drinks before heading into Melbourne’s finest auditorium. Sweeping 70 foot ceilings allow for an upper floor with fixed seating for 800 guests. This area can either be utilized for additional attendees, or dimmed to ensure the focus remains the awe inspiring chandeliers. A lift directly into the Main Hall, allows for easy bump in of vehicles, and large product displays or activations.
Swanston Hall
Beneath an intricately designed glowing lighting dome, Swanston Hall boasts timber panelling, and rich green tones exuding opulence and finesse. This stunning art deco venue, is the only venue on the Ground Floor. A sizable mezzanine is available for registration, predinner drinks and conference catering. This special event space is directly accessible through a dedicated entrance on Swanston Walk.
Portico Room & Balcony
Undoubtedly one of the most impressive views in Melbourne, this stunning vista includes the Arts Centre spire, Flinders Street Station and St Paul’s Cathedral. Waive to the adoring public, as have many before you. A fantastic spot for cocktail receptions, this space can also be used for arrival drinks in conjunction with either the Yarra or Melbourne Rooms. The balcony space can be enclosed with blinds to provide additional shelter and the supporting Portico Room is available for predinner drinks: dine under the stars in spectacular style in this space.
Supper Room
The only room on the third floor of the iconic Melbourne Town Hall, this breathtaking space is perfect for a range of conferencing, performance, gala and networking events. An abundance of natural light streams in from the rooftop windows, highlighting the nineteen century original features. Catering can be served in the back of the space, or in the adjoining anteroom which is also suitable for pre dinner drinks. A large elevator provides access for all guests, with exclusive access to bathrooms on the same level.
Yarra Room
This stunning space was once the Council Chamber for the City of Melbourne, and the beautiful wooden panelling and portraiture impart gravitas and dignity. Situated on the second level, and directly opposite the iconic Portico Balcony, this spacious room provides an excellent venue for cocktail receptions, gala dinners, and exclusive lunches or meetings. An integral slice of Melbourne’s rich history, now open to be enjoyed by all of her residents and visitors.
Melbourne Room
With elevated views over Swanston Walk and Collins Street, the Melbourne Room is awash with natural light and elegant period charm. Decorated with priceless antiques and rich timber finishes, the Melbourne Room is ideal for formal luncheons, conferences, product launches, cocktail parties, or even a private meeting space. This very exclusive option is completely unique.
