Reviews for Novotel Melbourne on Collins

Great location right in the middle of Melbourne. Very well priced for where you are, our room was comfortable with the usual appointments. Very nice staff who greeted you every time you left or entered the hotel. Other than a noisy A/C unit in the room we couldn't fault the stay at all.

Novotel Melbourne on Collins is in an unbeatable location right in the heart of the CBD, which makes it incredibly convenient for shopping, dining, and getting around the city. You really can’t fault where it’s situated—it’s perfect for anyone wanting to be in the middle of everything. The staff were a definite highlight of the stay. They were friendly, helpful, and always willing to assist with any questions or requests, which made the overall experience much more pleasant. Their service really stood out and added a positive touch to the visit. However, the rooms themselves are quite dated and fairly basic. There’s nothing particularly special about them—just the essentials like a bed and standard facilities. It would have been nice to have a few extra amenities such as toothbrushes or other small touches that many hotels now provide. One of the main downsides was the lift situation. During our stay, only one lift was working, which meant long wait times, especially during busy periods. It seems this is a common issue, as there are quite a few reviews mentioning the same problem. Overall, a convenient and comfortable stay mainly due to the location and great staff, but the facilities could definitely use an upgrade.

I came here for a business trip. The facilities provided were pretty good, the coffee was not bad but not as good as other places nearby in Melbourne. The room was pretty good, nice shower area, bed was decent with charging on bedside tables available. A nice lounging chair. View was a little weird looking inwards at other peoples windows. I had issues checking in originally but the staff were able to sort it out within 2 hrs. The elevator also wasnt working when i was there so using the stairs with luggage was not fun, although likely an isolated event. The location is great, right in the heart of Melbourne CBD.

I was travelling for business and stayed in Novotel Melbourne on Collins. The location is convenient as it is located close to malls and restaurants. The downside is that the facility is a bit old and didn't meet my expectations considering the price level. Points I've noted are the following: 1. Carpets - both in the room and common areas including hallways smells bad. it seems it's been a while since it received a proper washing. 2. Sustainability - it's a great effort however, the lack of in-room slippers is a letdown. 3. Power outlets - given that the price level is similar to Singapore, i was hoping that the power outlets will be universal and wouldn't require a power adapter. 4. T&B - the shower enclosure didn't have a door which posed a risk of spilling shower water allover the washroom floor. The lack of a bidet shower is also a let down. 5. Entertainment - TV is on the older side and didn't have a phone screensharing feature. 6. A/C - It's not possible to manually control the room temperature. It's either you freeze or get toasted - there's no flexibility. 7. Wifi - working remotely is a nuisance as the wifi automatically disconnects after about 15 minutes which will require you to reconnect to the same router, go into the log-in page and confirm that you are indeed connected. 8. Lift/Elevator - they are transparent and honest about the maintenance of another lift. However, the remaining operational lift shuts its door abruptly which may result to injuries. I had my fair share of being squeezed between its doors. once the doors open, you need to get inside within 5 seconds as the door will force its way to shut close. Novotel is good in general, the negatives are noticeable if compared to other hotels/destinations in Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam and Japan.

What I loved: We stayed in an accessible room and the bedroom was lovely and spacious with plenty of room to manoeuvre. The bed was large and very comfortable. The bathroom was also spacious and had grab bars alongside the toilet, bath, and shower. The bath was low and easy to transfer into, and the shower has a bench attached to the wall. The Building itself is in an excellent location, and was overall very quiet and clean. All the staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful, and we had a really nice time. We didn't try much of the food because the hotel is so close to so many wonderful resturants that we mostly ate out, but we did order room service once and can confirm it was absolutely delicious. What I didn't love: Unfortunately, while the bathroom doorframe and door were built to code, they were installed in such a way that my 780mm chair couldn't fit through the doorway. This was a real bummer (and caused me unnecessary pain), but I'm ambulatory enough that I could make it work. If your chair is similar in width to mine or wider I would call ahead and double check that it'll fit in the room you're considering. It should be an easy fix and I mentioned it to staff at the time so hopefully they've already addressed this- I'm hoping it was just a one off error. Also, if you're like me and like to bathe at odd hours, I strongly reccomend double checking that there's a plug for the bath before you transfer into the tub at 2am because oh my was I disappointed to have to crawl out and head for the shower instead🤦♀️
