Comfortable 4 night stay at the Pullman Albert Park where we were staying to visit friends and family, so didn’t need a city centre location. The hotel has a decent bar with food options, and restaurant. There’s not much within quick walking distance of the hotel but Ubers were easy to obtain. Our room was spacious with a comfortable bed, and housekeeping arranged non-allergenic bedding for us. I’d have to observe that furniture and doors in the room looked a bit worse for wear, decor a bit shabby and cleaning wasn’t up to scratch as dust was left in various places. We used the bar, and bar food twice, which was generally good if not much ambience. Hotel staff were helpful and friendly.
I stayed at this hotel while attending a conference on-site, and from the moment I arrived in the evening, the staff were welcoming and attentive. Check-in was quick and stress-free. My room exceeded expectations exactly as requested, away from the elevator, with a comfortable king-size bed and a lovely view of Albert Park. Breakfast was included in my stay, and the quality was consistently good. I particularly appreciated that my preference for eggs was happily accommodated each morning over my six-day visit. Check-out was just as seamless as check-in. Throughout my stay, every interaction with staff was positive they were friendly, professional, and genuinely happy to help. The location was also a bonus, with Albert Park just outside the door, perfect for a morning stroll and some fresh air between conference sessions. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable stay that made a busy week feel easy and comfortable.
This Pullman is a 3 star, not 5 star, hotel. It was the complete opposite experience of the Pullman in Rotorua, which was fantastic on every level. That was a 5 star experience and 10/10. Most of the staff have a strange arrogant attitude - e.g. my partner asked for a bowl when we bought food from the Woolworths metro (about a 15 minute walk) and the front desk staff sighed heavily. When I was eating breakfast, staff came to clear my table when I was there and I said my partner is still using his bowl - the woman then snapped "well I'm taking this plate". I ordered coffee from Mortimer's and had the bar staff tell me some woman complained that they took away her drink when she went to the bathroom - then made faces about her. To another patron! It's bizarre. I felt like the staff didn't actually want customers. The rooms were good and the bed very comfortable but otherwise the hotel badly needs refurbishing; old carpet, water stains on ceilings, old chipped bedside tables. The gym is the most 5 star thing about the hotel. An excellent gym and very well equipped.
We enjoyed our stay at the Pullman with great facilities to entertain our friends in the Lobby before our easy tram ride to the Arts Centre and again for breakfast the next morning. Staff were friendly and helpful and the food was delicious with an extensive menu. Thanks especially to Darren and Jack who made our stay feel special. The Hotel was clean and comfortable although there was some maintenance being done at the time of our stay.
This Pullman was our worst Accor Hotel experience to date. It was so far below even basic motel standards that we cancelled our original three night stay to just one night. On arrival, it took nearly 10 minutes before any front-of-house staff acknowledged us, despite there being no one else waiting and staff only handling a phone query. The hallway to our room smelled bad and was noticeably dirty. When we opened the room, we found large stains covering the carpet, breaks and gaps in the skirting boards, and a bed that, while neatly made, sagged deeply in the middle. The TV was not functioning properly. Having stayed in over 40 Accor hotel rooms already this year, with at least 20 more nights booked overseas, this was by far the worst. We cancelled our stay within an hour of checking in. Providing adequate customer service training for all staff and perhaps visiting other Pullman hotels around Australia, particularly the Pullman Sydney Airport Hotel would be a good start toward making a real change. I strongly recommend avoiding this hotel if you are expecting a five-star experience. Based on our stay, I believe it should be rebranded and removed from the Accor portfolio. The customer service fell well short of Accor standards, and we felt completely unwelcome. We would not stay here again, even if the room were offered for free. This is our genuine experience and honest review of this hotel.
