Reviews for Silo No.9

This place is such a cool find. Hidden inside an old flour mill, and the setting alone is worth the visit. The Detroit-style pizza is unreal, thick but airy, super crispy edges, and packed with flavour. Each slice feels filling without being heavy, and the caramelised cheese edges are addictive. Great spot to bring someone who loves trying something different or appreciates a bit of food history with their meal. Definitely one of those places you’ll want to come back to and bring friends next time.

Crispy caramelized deep pan Detroit style pizza now available at this hidden gem which just opened in Feb 2026. Currently a stylish café by day and serving take away pizza by night under the brand 9Mile. Indoor space is very cozy and there's an outdoor area at ground level plus a rooftop space for events. Fingers crossed they get their licence to serve pizza and wine in-house at night soon 🙏🏻

Went here for dinner. I’ve had great Detroit style pizza elsewhere, so was keen to try. Was a bit confused where it was. It’s a cafe, not a specific pizza place, which is fine. The pizza was served in cardboard boxes because the pizza trays haven’t arrived yet. The Detroit Heat pizza was not cut properly prior, so it was hard to cut it in the box. It was very runny, and had very large dollops of chilli, rather than chilli spread throughout. It was okay—it wasn’t great. My partner said his pepperoni pizza was tasteless. I wouldn’t bother coming back. Service was fine, the atmosphere was nice.

This is NOT authentic Detroit style pizza. I've been to Detroit and tried all the best places. If you want real Detroit style - go to Deep End in Fitzroy. Silo 9 is claiming to be "Melbourne's first Detroit pizza" which is simply a lie. Deepend have been doing it for over a year!

Great pizza, we're your new regulars. If there were any issues with the quality as some of the other reviews said, that's no longer the case. Every pizza we've had was delicious, and tonight's was exceptionally good - it's like it just gets better! L/Lachlan's review is either outdated or whingey. Sorry, gotta say it. I've had pizza in New York, Chicago and Italy and while I can't comment on Detroit style, I know a good pizza! Considering the many "quality" pizza joints in Melbourne that all use the same cheap ingredients, gross shredded ham and soft soggy dough, I'll say this is at least 9 miles ahead of that rubbish. Keep it up!
