One of Melbourne’s most iconic buildings, which famously housed David Bromley’s studio and home for 13 years, has been transformed into a unique, new events space. Located within the iconic Prahran Arcade, the heritage building has seen many incarnations over the decades, and today this historic Chapel St icon has been lovingly restored to its former glory to become “Sophia”, a multi-faceted events space that can host every style of occasion. Inside resides two spaces that may be used independently or together – a grand ballroom and a gorgeous space reminiscent of an art gallery. ‘The Ballroom’ (seats 100 or 150 cocktail), an elegant room with ornate chandeliers and a breathtaking balcony overlooking Chapel Street. ‘The Gallery’ (seats 200 or 350 cocktail), a remarkable 60 metre space punctuated by 26 arched windows which reveal the elaborate architectural works suspended high above the arcade.

We had our winter wedding in June 2026 at Sophia and genuinely had the most perfect and magical day. We worked with Christina in the lead-up and she was an absolute pleasure to work with. I bombarded her with long essays with a million questions in the months leading up, and she was so incredibly patient and accommodating. The night was amazing, and we've been receiving nothing but positive feedback from our guests about how stunning it was, the quality of the food and the attentiveness of the staff. Sad that it's all over, but so happy with our choice and will be reliving the day forever.

From the moment we first walked in we knew it was the one, and it delivered on every single level on our wedding day. The space is breathtaking, the food was incredible, and the service was flawless from start to finish. From the lead up to the day itself, Chloe was attentive, professional, and went above and beyond at every turn. She made the whole process feel so easy and stress free and we always felt like we were in the most capable hands.
