•The Emerald Peacock is the ultimate representation of a classic Melbourne bar– tucked away from public view but reaching the skies with a vibrant rooftop. Whether you’re relaxing inside in an intimate booth or sipping cocktails on the bustling rooftop, The Emerald Peacock is truly an all-season destination. Consisting of a cocktail bar, lounge, and rooftop bar – each with its own distinct ambience – The Emerald Peacock is a bit of an all-round crowd pleaser, particularly with the city after-work crowd. The venue’s Cocktail Bar does well to create a sense of vintage French charm, combining vintage foil wallpaper with lots of warm wood panelling. It all adds a touch of delicacy to an otherwise modern bar fit-out. Downstairs, the Peacock Lounge can be found. Bolder than its upstairs neighbour, this space is dark and sumptuous in decor; think luxe crushed velvets married with bold prints and Louis XV chairs. As with upstairs, there is no shortage of space – high-top tables sit comfortably apart from more private booth-type seating. Food as well as drinks can be enjoyed in the Lounge, with a range of pizzas and share plates to choose from. If a room with a view is sought, then one can’t go wrong with the Peacock’s Rooftop. Bringing the whole stylised bar approach down a notch, the Rooftop is a modestly decorated space, happily allowing the skyline views to do all the talking.
The Emerald Peacock prides itself in its cocktail offerings. A small but interesting number of originals can be sampled including their signature drinks 'Cupid's Daisy – a refreshing combination of Galliano Vanilla, Pomegranate, Rose Syrup, Aperol, Lemon & Egg Whites. Craft beers such as Sample Lager, Two Birds Pale Ale and Colonial IPA are all available on tap as well as a selection of Australian wines. Functions are catered for at The Emerald Peacock, with the reservation of booths in the Peacock Lounge being a popular option for small-sized groups of 10 people and rooftop reservations popular for larger groups of 15 + people. DJs are a weekend feature at the Peacock, creating a chilled party vibe. The Emerald Peacock is situated on Lonsdale Street in the CBD. Swanston and La Trobe Street trams are extremely close by, as is Melbourne Central train station.
This function venue is the perfect venue for celebrations of all sizes, from intimate gatherings to larger parties. With its versatile event spaces, The Emerald Peacock can accommodate everything from milestone birthdays to corporate events, providing an elegant backdrop for any occasion.

Okay, so we went to Emerald Peacock on a Friday night and honestly… I’m still thinking about it. The food is insane - like, every dish had us arguing over who got the last bite. The cocktails are equally next-level: creative, perfectly balanced, and generous enough that you actually feel like you got your money’s worth. Speaking of which, it was ridiculously good value - Melbourne rarely does nights like this without charging a fortune. The staff are absolute legends. Not just polite, but genuinely fun, making the night feel effortless and special without being over the top. And the views - wow. The skyline, the vibe, the music… it all just clicks. It’s one of those nights where you just lean back, drink in hand, and think ‘yeah, this is exactly why we love Melbourne.’ Can’t recommend it enough. We’ll definitely be back, and next time, I’m ordering everything on the menu 🤣
A perfect place to gather with friends and colleagues - whether it’s for after work drinks or social gatherings on weekends. The eatery is equipped with a full bar and food items on the menu are all reasonably priced. The rooftop provides for an up beat atmosphere and a comfortable view of the city skyline. The staff are super friendly and accommodating. They also provide spaces for private functions - from birthdays, engagements and the like. A must visit eatery in the Melbourne CBD.
This spot is perfect catch ups or even dates. The view here is amazing with friendly and nice staffs and a menu that is budget-friendly and totally worth it. Obsessed with the chicken tenders, cauliflower tempura, and corn ribs. And don’t skip the 2 to Mango cocktail, that one alone will make me come back.
Big space, solid vibes, great food and food prices that make sharing feel like a win, earning a spot on my CBD go-back list. Perfect for grazing, sipping and accidentally staying longer than planned. It's a massive rooftop space in the centre of the city that feels open and vibey but still has plenty of cover to linger when one cocktail turns into one more round. The food is built for sharing with Chicken Tenders that were juicy, crunchy and impossible to stop eating as were the Corn Ribs. The Tempura Cauliflower was so dangerously moreish, that if you're only going to get one thing, make it this! And the Tiger Prawn Skewers were plump and juicy and a great contrast to the fried bites. The only thing missing is a decent happy hour/s because the drinks aren't cheap but the cocktails are definitely worth a try.
the pizza was delicious, and the staff did a great job of helping us cool down on this 35 degree day, but the calamari didn’t look like pictures i had seen online or in other reviews, it was very pale looking and the crumbing slid off the calamari pieces when i was trying to eat it. i went with my boyfriend, and together we ordered a pizza each and the calamari, and the waiter proceeded to say “that’s a lot of food you must be hungry.” that comment was definitely unnecessary and i don’t understand what made him feel the need to say that. the pizzas were on the small side, so the comment didn’t even make sense in regards to food portions. was also told they don’t have takeaway containers… which surprised me as i’m sure almost every single restaurant/food shop would be expected to have them.
