Moved back into the City, The Laurel was our regular years ago, so had to stop in-so glad we did! The renovations are spot on, has a cosy, Pub feel, Staff were friendly, and the Snacks we chose were delicious! From the CBD, the Tram stops right out the front-will definitely be a regular we head to!

Sat20June26 ... This AscotVale local is a smoothly! run & establishment. The staff are nicely professional & enthusiastic! I was seriously craving a simple-dimple pizza. Their MargheritaPizza (which i added RedOnion & Archovies onto) was Yumbo! Main bar area is more than adequate to eat & drink at for a bite & glass/2! Gratitudes ☺️🙏🥂🧊

Fantastic local pub with an amazing atmosphere, great food and genuinely friendly staff. You can really feel the community vibe the moment you walk in. The steaks were spot on, drinks were great and the service made the whole experience even better. So good to have a venue like this in Ascot Vale.

To the Management of The Laurel Hotel, Ascot Vale I am writing to express my profound disappointment with the treatment my friends and I received at The Laurel Hotel on Friday evening. It was, without question, one of the worst hospitality experiences I have ever encountered. We had specifically arranged our reunion with your venue in advance, advising that between 30 and 40 people would be attending and that we wanted an area where everyone could mingle, catch up and enjoy the evening together. Instead of being welcomed, we were made to feel like an inconvenience from the moment we arrived. The attitude of the staff was consistently rude, dismissive and unnecessarily confrontational. We were repeatedly told that we needed to sit down, despite the fact that this was a social reunion where people naturally wanted to move around and speak with one another. We were then informed that we would be “shuffled” into another room, as though we were a problem to be managed rather than valued customers. The conduct of the manager, Bree, was particularly disappointing. Her manner was officious, abrupt and completely lacking in the warmth, professionalism and customer service one expects from someone in a management position. The way she spoke to members of our group was so discourteous that it visibly upset a couple of our guests. No customer should ever be made to feel embarrassed or unwelcome simply for attending a function that had been organised with the venue beforehand. I have worked in the hospitality and service industry for 35 years, so I understand the pressures staff can face. However, I can honestly say that I have never been treated so poorly in any hospitality establishment. Good customer service costs nothing, yet on this occasion it was entirely absent. The hospitality industry depends on creating a welcoming environment that encourages customers to return. Unfortunately, your team achieved the exact opposite. Around 40 people left your venue feeling disappointed, disrespected and unwelcome. Every one of us has agreed that we will not be returning to The Laurel Hotel, and we certainly would not recommend it to others. This experience was an absolute disgrace and fell well below any reasonable standard of customer service. I sincerely hope management takes this complaint seriously, investigates what occurred on the evening, and addresses the conduct of those responsible. Dined here a few times but came in on Anzac Day before heading to the game for the Pies v Bombers game. The outdoor area was unreal, beers flowing from their portable bar and the service from the staff was on point. Had the new Buffalo Wings and could not recommend them more - crunchy, saucy and flavourful. Perfect footy watching food.
