Reviews for Mantra on Salt Beach

We have stayed at Mantra on Salt on several occasions and always enjoyed our stays. This time something has changed… Reception is still lovely and inviting as is the main pool area but the service is lacking. We booked an ocean view one bedroom suite… requesting a room with afternoon sun (it’s winter). We were allocated room 5314 - absolutely no afternoon sun and a slight view of the ocean beyond the trees…. I called reception and was on hold for 10 mins before someone answered. They advised that the room is ocean view and the council will not let them cut the trees so it’s not their fault we can no longer see the sea clearly. I understand council regulations but would suggest the hotel revisits which suites do and do not have ocean views. Reception said they would check if they had another room but after waiting for 20 mins for a call back I figured it wasn’t worth waiting. Incidentally neither room phones worked I had to call externally… Must say, no complaints about the room, it was refurbished and spacious. Breakfast is no longer served at Salt - you have to walk to Peppers if you want a hotel breakfast. Additionally the bar in reception only opens at 2pm now! No morning coffee for us beside the pool! I understand business may be slow given the cafes etc. at Salt village but surely the hotel should cater to their guests all day? Edited to add… the gym. TV not working (not a huge deal), no towels, no weights, no workout mats for floor work, the digital counter on the rowing machine didn’t work, the Elliptical machine required maintenance as it wasn’t operating smoothly. It just seemed everywhere needed some TLC at this hotel. I’ve attached a photo of the ocean view from our room…. Personally I would call this a garden view room. Paid extra for that ocean view too…. Definitely wasn’t worth it.

We stayed here as a central point for the northern NSW with day trips to Byron and Mullumbimby. Chose a 1bed Ocean View Studio which was very nice, a great size room and was fully self contained including cooking and laundry. The Ocean View was extremely minimal but general view towards the sea and across the gardens was very nice. No restaurant onsite but the Peppers one for breakfast was very close by. There were also a number of other dining options in the Village right next to the resort. was very quiet, likely because it was the week after school holidays ended. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

We booked this resort for my husband and I’s first holiday since becoming new parents and had high expectations from the glowing reviews. The facilitates were nice, enjoyed the bar downstairs near the pools and the many lounge chairs. The resort was very close to a lifeguard patrolled beach with beautiful crystal clear waters. Appears family friendly with a little kids shallow pool. Unfortunately, the room was quite basic for how the resort appeared online, the price and the initial arrival view. The mattress was very firm which made sleeping quite uncomfortable. We needed to manually clean the bath tap filter to have water flow. That said, we enjoyed the view from our room but noticed that the outdoor lights remained very bright overnight which the shutter style blinds did not reduce for sleep. The bathroom had the same shutter style which was interesting but meant little privacy. The included breakfast buffet is not onsite but at a neighbouring resort. While lots of options, the buffet was quite sub-standard and sadly the cooked breakfast options did not taste nice on both occasions attended. Enjoyed the pancake machine and toppings offered.

Very clean, nice bed sheets. Good aircon and easy parking. Quite disappointed with small room - no space for luggage and lacked furniture. Husband had to bring in patio table and chairs. Tea and coffee facilities and very small fridge were located under TV cabinet. No room to prep even small breakfast. Got a bit chilly one night - no light blanket provided - only heavy bedspread. Bathroom had water damaged cabinet. TIME FOR AN UPDATE. Mount TV on the wall and replace outdated cabinet with built in cabinet and bench the length of the alcove at a reasonable height. Quite expensive for what was supplied. Can’t understand why we can’t get through to Restaurants without going outside! Room 5318 or 5319

We have booked two rooms for three nights. One room we have had to change three times because of faulty rooms. Aircon doesn't work, no lights in the bathroom worked, someone speed in the room so it smelt like vomit. Changed rooms the next room the aircon leaked so bad it flowed like a tap and saturated the bed pillows and bed. Next room so far so good. The only thing wrong with the other room was the remote had no batteries. Does nobody have a check list to check all facilities and equipment work???? We paid nearly $1800 for three days. I expected better. Very disappointed.
