A Heartwarming Experience on a Rainy Day Today was a rainy day, and we needed a safe and dry place for little Edward, who has cerebral palsy, to continue his daily walking exercise. Instead of walking in front of the house, we decided to visit Willetton Basketball Stadium. We are so grateful to the kind and accommodating staff who allowed us to walk inside the stadium. Their generosity and understanding made a huge difference for us. The atmosphere at the stadium was incredibly welcoming. Edward received so much encouragement from the kids and parents who were there, which truly motivated him. He walked more than half of his usual daily distance, which is a big achievement for him. It was heartwarming to see such a supportive and inclusive community. Thank you to the staff at Willetton Basketball Stadium for your kindness and to everyone there who made our day so special. This experience reminded us of the power of community and compassion. We highly recommend this stadium not just for sports, but for its wonderful people and inclusive spirit.
Had a game there on Tuesday night, game got out of control, a player tripped over one of my teammates by accident bc the opponent didn’t see him behind him, my teammate went to go help him up out of sportsmanship and kindness an the opponent full on punched my player in the stomach and the opponent did not get an sportsmanlike foul or ejection foul due to throwing a punch, and I didn’t believe what the referees said, “can only call a technical foul for the swearing” so this stadium is basically letting assault happen. The opponent was subbed off for the rest of the game due to rolling his ankle, we tried apologising and we just receive disrespect, the staff/ supervisor did there best to sort this situation out with the opponent which I do appreciate that, but I don’t understand why the stadium/ referees would let assault pass and be tolerated when in there polity’s it strictly say no violence and that act was used last night on my game, I do expect better from this stadium but this just shows the rumours of this stadium are true…
Absolutely shocking experience. My son, a dedicated player with 10 seasons at the club, was thrown out of his team without warning due to a coach’s personal preference. Then, WBA blocked him from playing anywhere else by refusing an exceptional clearance even though the season hasn’t started and he hasn’t played a single game. This is blatant favoritism, nepotism, and toxic management. Children should be developing and enjoying basketball, not being punished by administrative politics. WBA has failed in fairness, transparency, and basic decency. UPDATE - ANSWERING TO WBA Thank you for your response, WBA. However, your reply misrepresents the actual situation. This is not about disagreement with grading. The key facts are: – The team placement decision was communicated after the transfer window had already closed; – As a result, there was no realistic opportunity to seek placement with another club within the proper process; – The player has not played a single game in the current season; – A confirmed place is available in another club, yet participation is being blocked. Framing this as a “standard grading outcome” avoids the real issue. The issue is that the timing of the decision effectively removed any meaningful choice, and the current application of by-laws is now preventing a child from participating at all, not regulating movement, but stopping participation entirely. You state that exceptions are only granted in “genuinely exceptional circumstances”. It is difficult to understand how a situation where: – no games have been played, – participation has not commenced, – and the player is left without any pathway to play, does not meet that threshold. This is not about seeking advantage or bypassing rules. It is about a junior player being excluded from the season due to administrative timing and rigid interpretation, despite there being a clear and reasonable alternative. If the purpose of the system is fairness and participation, the current outcome does not reflect that. And let’s be honest many parents already know that fairness here depends less on the rules themselves and more on how selectively they are applied.
Watched my niece play here Great atmosphere, healthy competition, courts and toilets are clean and tidy. I really enjoyed the game
My younger brother rolled his ankle during a game and the young duty manager, (Ryan i think)? was super accommodating and helpful in the process, he had good first aid knowledge and was super calm! 🙏
