What a great place to visit. We started with a brewery tour and ended with a great lunch in the bar. I highly recommend the tour. So interesting and informative and really brings a context to the brewery and life in Tasmania in the early days. An interesting owner history and a great Australian story. The bar is excellent. Warm, inviting, live music and great atmosphere. Food was delicious and beer flowing even better. Shout out for the cider - a winner for the non beer drinker.
Located at 140 Cascade Road, South Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🇦🇺 This is a Brewery heavy with history back to 1824. Even if you don’t do the offered tours through the actual brewery (which unfortunately I was unable to do because of time constraints), just visiting the bar is worth it. You can do the Historic tour for $12 or the Brewery Tour for $38. You must be 18+ years to do the Brewery tour. The menu in the Bar is pretty basic. I had the Fried Chicken Burger which was delicious 😋. I will say when I went to the bar to order, the server was not overly friendly or welcoming. He acted as though he couldn’t care if I was there or not . No smile, nothing. To the point of being rude. That was really my only complaint, other than our meals being delivered a little slow. The atmosphere is very relaxed and it’s designed very rustic. You can sit inside or outside and there’s a bbq set up outside also. There is a tiny museum in the cottage upstairs but it’s very basic. Worth a visit but you have to climb the stairs. That’s free entry. You can also buy souvenirs in the entrance to the bar. it’s a popular place considering the number of people there and it was a weekday at lunch. I imagine it would be packed on the weekends. Would definitely recommend a visit. Thumbs up! (Just work on the service) 👍👍
My family and I did the history tour which was very interesting our guide was very knowledgeable. After the tour we had lunch at the bistro and the customer service is 10/10. My daughter is allergic to seafood and nuts and they did everything they can to accommodate her allergies. They made sure that the food she was getting does not have any allergens even if it means altering the dish.
What an awesome experience at Cascade Brewery! 🍺 From start to finish, the tour was informative, relaxed, and genuinely enjoyable. It’s not just about beer (although that part is great 😄), it’s about history, tradition, and storytelling done really well. The guide explained the beer-making process in a clear and engaging way, making it easy to understand even if you’re not a beer expert. Learning how beer is brewed, from raw ingredients to the final product, was fascinating and very well presented. What really made this tour special was the strong connection to Tasmania’s history. 🏛️ Hearing about the convict era and how the brewery is tied to those early days added a powerful sense of place. You truly feel like you’re walking through a living piece of Australian history. And then… the tasting paddle 🍻 — the perfect way to finish! A great selection of beers, beautifully served, and a fun way to experience the range Cascade has to offer. Overall, this tour strikes the perfect balance between learning and enjoyment. Highly recommended for visitors, locals, history lovers, and beer lovers alike. Don’t miss it! 👌
We did the brewery tour today with Henry, he was very informative and helpful. He was great for a laugh as well. The tasting paddle at the end of the tour was good to sample different beers also.
