Reviews for Cafe Del Mar

My friends and I recently spent the evening at Cafe del Mar Sydney, and it was such a lovely experience. Although we came for a girls' catch-up, I kept thinking how perfect this place would be for a date night. The Mediterranean tapas are fresh, flavourful, and perfect for sharing, making them the ideal pairing with a few drinks while overlooking the water. One of the best parts is the stunning waterfront view. From the warm glow of golden hour to the sparkling city lights at night, the scenery creates such a beautiful backdrop for the evening. The atmosphere is what really makes this place special. With a vibrant yet relaxed vibe, and beautiful waterfront views, it's the kind of spot where you can slow down, enjoy good food, and stay a little longer than planned. Whether you're catching up with friends, planning a date night, or celebrating something special, Cafe del Mar Sydney is definitely a place worth visiting. ✨

Hands down the best date night spot for Vivid. We scored a table up on the Cockle Bay Wharf rooftop terrace, and the waterfront views of Darling Harbour with all the Vivid Sydney lights were unreal. Definitely our new go-to for waterfront dining in the city. The drinks kicked things off perfectly. My partner ordered the Chilly Cranberry Paloma (perfect mix of tart with a subtle spicy kick) and I had the Appletini, which was super crisp and refreshing. For food, we just loaded up on a bunch of tapas to share, and honestly, every single dish was a banger: • Prawn toast: Super crunchy, and the chilli-lime aioli with sweet corn was so good. • Anchovy & boquerones featade: Really fresh, loved the punch of the lemon and fried capers. • Crispy squid: Tender, not chewy at all, and the smoked paprika aioli nailed it. • Wagyu beef skewers: Incredibly rich and melt-in-your-mouth, balanced perfectly by the jalapeno salsa verde. • Salmon tartare: Really clean flavours with a nice chilli dressing, and loved that it came with GF crackers. • Charred WA octopus: Cooked perfectly, paired up nicely with the potato mayu and blistered tomatoes. Even with the massive Vivid crowds, the service was fast and the energy was great. Will absolutely be back.

Really enjoyed their food, decor and stunning harbour views! The grilled octopus was nicely charred and tender, the spatchcock was juicy and cooked to the right doneness and burrata was creamy. The prawn toast was crispy outside and packed with prawns and corn but I prefer the filling to be slightly saltier. The decor inside is classy and enjoying the awesome Darling Harbour view at the balcony is very relaxing. Overall a great spot for both tourists and locals to grab food and drinks while enjoying the view.

Shot one of the most incredible menus here and I’m still thinking about it. Every dish that came out was not only stunning to photograph but actually delivered on flavour too (which isn’t always the case 👀). You can tell there’s real thought behind every plate — textures, colour, balance… it just works. The whole space has that effortless, coastal luxe vibe which makes the experience even better. Safe to say, this is one of those shoots where everything just hit. Would go back in a heartbeat, camera or no camera.

Had a wonderful time on Wednesday night here! Definitely a place on the pricier side, but is definitely a restaurant you should visit, not only for the food, but also the wonderful views! Had a decent selection of tapas that were just lovely. We ordered the focaccia, prawn toast, calamari, octopus, and salmon tartare. I'm not very familiar with Mediterranean food, but Café del Mar does seafood so well that it's definitely left a good impression. Everything we tried was fantastic. The prawn toast was definitely the highlight though. And they have great cocktails! I didn't catch the name of our waitress, but she was very accommodating and proactive about her service (which is always appreciated). If you're prepared to spend a little more for a meal, this is a great place to visit.
