Reviews for Capella Sydney

We had the most beautiful stay at Capella Sydney. From the moment we arrived, everything felt thoughtful and special. The attention to detail was incredible and made our trip truly memorable. Breakfast each morning was amazing – fresh, delicious, and such a lovely way to start the day. We also loved all the little surprises during our stay. We received chocolates for Lunar New Year, takeaway coffee cups for when we were heading out, and even a sweet card with a deck of cards for activities. It’s these small touches that really make this hotel stand out. We were travelling with a little girl, and she was over the moon to have her own play tent set up in the room. That extra effort meant so much to us and made her feel so special. Everything about our stay felt warm, welcoming, and luxurious without being over the top. We can’t wait to come back!

Was thrilled to try Capella Sydney after a 5* star at Capella Hanoi last year. My expectations were not met ... by a wide margin. Booked through AMEX FHR for 3 nights -- let's start with the good: 5 stars for the room -- beautifully appointed, location good in CBD as well. The bad: I am a young 30s traveler and truly felt that the team at Capella treated me differently than the rest of the (skewing older than me) guests. Service at the living room (a unique Capella concept open daily that serves coffee/tea during the day and then cocktails and canapés at happy hour nightly for guests) was non-existent for me -- I went 2x and both times had to find my own seat and nearly beg to be helped. I stopped going at night after the first day as no one would help me with a drink. It was ... awkward as all other guests would be greeted and helped immediately while I was the only one without a drink or to be welcomed (the only thing I can think of Is I appeared quite younger than the rest of the guests? or because I was a solo traveler?) I experienced the same lack of service at breakfast daily -- quite literally no one checked on me or provided anything...? Had to ask for a table, a coffee, etc as other guests were helped immediately upon entering. Same experience on checkout. In all, a beautifully appointed hotel but I would not recommend for solo travelers or anyone in their 20s/30s/lower 40s. Stay at the Park Hyatt instead.

Amazing; the staff is so good and welcoming. They do everything in their power to make your stay an unforgetable experience. They organise great tours like the history, architectural and farmers market. We did them all and they were all great. Also the building and hotel itself is very nicely designed with art, interiour design and a sense for making you feel at home. The level of detail is exceptional. For example if you come back to your room you will find a wipe for your glasses next to them. Or if you have no disturb on, a small card they want to restock and tidy your room later. Small details everywhere and they nail them all. We will not forget Capella and can highly recommend.

We had arranged to meet a group of Mcrae bar but it was hired out all night for a private function. The staff offered the breakfast area as an alternative. A very low end experience and when management were made aware of the issue they ignored it. My wife who arrived at the hotel before me was made to wait several hours before being let into the room even though they took her bags in. One of the check in staff was on some kind of power trip. Having stayed at Capella internationally, the Sydney service levels fall very short and management do not get involved with guest issues.

This was our second stay at Capella Sydney, and once again it was an absolutely outstanding experience in every way. Returning to a hotel you already love can sometimes risk disappointment—but Capella exceeded our expectations all over again. A particularly thoughtful and memorable touch was that hotel management left a beautiful note and treats in our room to acknowledge our wedding anniversary. That level of personal attention genuinely sets this hotel apart and made our stay feel extra special. The staff are exceptional—warm, professional, attentive, and effortlessly welcoming from start to finish. Nothing feels forced; the service is simply done right. The amenities are fantastic, beautifully designed, and perfectly maintained, creating a calm, luxurious atmosphere throughout the property. The bar was wonderful, both in ambience and quality, and on our stay we dined at the restaurant, which remains a standout memory thanks to an exceptional and truly memorable meal. Capella Sydney has now delivered two flawless stays for us, which speaks volumes about their consistency and standards. It is a hotel we return to with confidence and recommend without hesitation. An exceptional experience, again.
