Reviews for Hyatt Regency Sydney

I want to take a moment to recognize Sotiana at the front desk because she made my stay at the Hyatt Regency Sydney genuinely special. She was the first person I interacted with when I arrived, and her warmth and kindness immediately put me at ease. She didn’t just check me in. She actually took time with me, talked with me, helped me figure out a few things I needed for the day, and made me feel like I wasn’t just another guest passing through. What really stayed with me was how willing she was to help in ways she absolutely didn’t have to. She even helped me with my bags when she saw I was juggling a few things. It wasn’t dramatic or showy, just this quiet, thoughtful gesture that told me she loves the work she does and takes pride in taking care of people. I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels and you don’t meet many people like that. I hope management sees what an incredible employee they have in her. She’s warm, grounded, attentive, and brings a level of care that elevates the whole guest experience. If anyone deserves recognition or growth here, it’s her. She made my stay better in a very real way. I love this Hyatt location and will make a point to come back.

For the price we paid per night ($349aud) the room did not meet our expectations. The room was extremely small with a view of the road near darling harbour on level 2. There was dust in the room, dirt in the bathroom and a musty smell when we entered. The bin had rust and was broken. We ordered room service and the mash potato was like lumpy soup, there was also an $8 delivery fee to the room. It felt extremely basic for what we paid. We were expecting a 5 star time away but it felt like we were staying in an overpriced motel. The staff at the service desk were great though, friendly and the downstairs area with the bar was nice. The bed was also comfy so I can't complain about that. Overall, wouldn't stay again unfortunately.

5-star, family-friendly hotel with great staff—special thanks to Makalita for assisting us with our booking request. We had an amazing Darling Harbour view room. The breakfast was excellent, with a great variety of smoothies and food, and the room service menu was also good. The location is perfect, right next to Darling Harbour with a convenient walkway from the hotel.

One of the most disappointing hotel experiences I’ve ever had. I booked Hyatt Regency Sydney expecting a true 5-star stay, but what I received was worse than a basic 3-star hotel. Firstly, their 3 PM check-in time is unreasonable, especially for families travelling with a baby. We requested early check-in at the time of booking, but the hotel did not accommodate our request. We finally entered the room only to find it shockingly small. The crib was peeling from the sides and looked old and dirty, which is unacceptable for any hotel. There was hardly any space to move, and we struggled to fit our stroller and luggage. When we asked for a different room, the staff refused to help or offer any alternative. To make things worse, the room had KitKat and chips placed openly, and like many quality hotels, we assumed these were complimentary. Instead, we were charged for them without any clear warning, which felt extremely disappointing and unprofessional for a hotel claiming to be 5-star. Even the water in the minibar is charged - nothing is complimentary. Overall, the hotel is overpriced, cramped, unfriendly, and nowhere near 5-star standards. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Save your hard earned money and stay somewhere that actually values and respects its guests.

One of the best locations to stay in Sydney as it’s close to all the main areas, but most importantly the ferries which makes it quite convenient. The hotel staff were friendly and we didn’t experience any particular issues, however the room was quite small which wasn’t ideal as we had to place our suitcases on the floor which took up even more room. We also noticed there was no dental kit in our bathroom and no body wash, so we had to contact housekeeping for these to be replenished which is disappointing for a 5 star hotel.
