“I got started in the events industry through my interest in marketplaces and customer journeys,” Matheus explains. “What attracted me here was how dynamic it is. Events bring together hospitality, marketing, sales, experience, and operations all at once.”

Before joining VenueNow, Matheus built his career across growth, product marketing, and digital performance. He worked with startups and fast-moving businesses across industries such as e-commerce, travel, food, and marketplaces, helping brands grow through better strategy, paid media, SEO, customer acquisition, and product-led thinking. That experience gave him a strong mix of marketing and customer experience knowledge, which naturally aligned with what VenueNow does.

What do you enjoy most about working in events?

Seeing an idea turn into a real experience for people.

What’s your favourite event you’ve attended and why?

My favourite events are usually the ones that feel effortless for the guest, even though you know a lot is happening behind the scenes. I really enjoy events where the atmosphere feels right from the moment you arrive, the space suits the occasion, and everything flows naturally. For me, the best events are the ones that create a strong experience and make people want to stay longer, connect, and remember them afterwards.

What makes a great event in your opinion?

In my opinion, a great event comes down to three things: the right venue, a smooth guest experience, and a clear purpose. When the space matches the vibe, the planning feels seamless, and people leave feeling like the event delivered on what it promised, that’s what makes it great. The best events are not always the biggest or most expensive; they’re the ones that feel well thought out and memorable.

What’s one event trend you’re loving right now?

Unique venues.

What’s your number one event planning tip?

When planning an event, start with a clear objective. When you know exactly what success looks like, every decision becomes easier.

Do you have an event “hack” you swear by?

One thing I always stick to is having a simple but solid Plan B for the key parts of the event. Things rarely go exactly as planned, so having a backup ready for anything critical, like weather, tech, or timing, can make all the difference on the day.

What advice would you give to someone just starting out in the events industry?

Be curious and learn from everyone around you!

What’s one thing people might not know about working in events?

How much happens behind the scenes. What feels seamless on the day is usually the result of weeks of planning.

What’s your go-to venue for after-work drinks?

I usually go for somewhere with a good vibe where you can actually have a proper chat after work. If there is an outdoor area even better.

What's your favourite restaurant right now?

Cho Cho San. I keep going back because the food is always great and the atmosphere is really good. It is one of those places that works well for both something casual or a nicer dinner.

What is your coffee order?

Long black. I like to keep it simple.

What do you love doing outside of work?

I enjoy playing tennis, going for hikes and cooking. It helps me balance between staying active and having some time to slow down and switch off.
