Try everywhere else first. When this hotel books out there isn't enough hot water to go around. The staff know this, when we provide our feedback to them they advised this happens and the system can't be upgraded. I feel this is important information for any to know when making a booking. I endured three nights here so you don't have to. Alongside water we had to contend with jammed windows so on a hot night you have to use the rattling air con. The in room coffee making requires you to down two flights of stairs heat milk. We were also missing a TV remote and had broken phone. At $300+ per night the quality is very poor. We chose the venue for the ease of access and visible charm however these are only skin deep.

Great location and staff were wonderful. The rooms have apparently been renovated but there was a patch of mould, no fan in the bathroom, bathroom was not up to the standard that I’d expect (felt more like a motel) and the shower next door was horrendously loud. Thank god we were only there one night or I would have lost my mind with the shower noise. Superior room was a good size.

Fantastically charming, old hotel in Canberra quite close to Parliament. The bed was the most comfortable I had slept on during my entire Australian vacation. The staff were affable and helpful where they could be. Note: If you're looking for a post box to mail a letter, you will find one out the front door, to the right about a block. I was impressed by the tidy room, with an iron and board, products, mini fridge, and actual glassware for tea. The hallways can look a little like they're from the Shining with the lights turned low, and there's no on site restaurant, but they have an agreement with Ostani in the Hotel Realm just a block away. One thing I ding them on is a lack of a lift. Many stairs to get to my room. I did not ask nor really look for a lift, but also did not see one nor a sign. If you've got a lot of luggage or mobility issues this may not be the place for you. It's a lovely place to stay, nestled in a neighborhood it is away from the street and general noise.

Great value, clean and quiet, and very well located for Canberra. Special shout out to Pat, one of the staff there, for providing exceptional service.

This place is in a great location and staff are lovely. The problem is that it’s an old structure that’s been refurbished, so it looks a bit more modern but in many ways it’s not - you can hear the plumbing pipes from the rooms around you, and they are VERY loud. Some even sound like a squealing noise. We were woken up multiple times. Lucky we only stayed one night.
