I recently stayed at the Crowne Plaza Canberra with a group of 6 families, and unfortunately, the service we received was far below expectations. Several issues impacted our stay, which I feel need to be addressed: 1. Each room was only provided with breakfast for two people, even though we had booked family rooms and were a group of 6 families, including three with children. This resulted in kids being charged up to $30+ per head, which seemed excessive, especially given the minimal incremental cost to the hotel. Furthermore, this was never communicated in advance, and guests were only informed on the spot and pressured to make quick decisions. This lack of transparency and poor communication was extremely frustrating. Canberra has many hotels and the crown plaza has definitely been my favourite over the years and is on the top of my list. However I would NOT come back any further as it’s really disappointing to see how they unwelcome the family group clients and have definitely become more profit driven than provide quality service to the clients. I believe the surrounding hotels can provide more attractive packages for families. 2. The hotel appeared to be severely understaffed. There were only two staff members at reception, and we had difficulty getting assistance when needed. While I understand cost-cutting measures, it was disappointing to find that we were expected to handle our luggage ourselves. We had to transport the luggage of 6 families to our rooms without any help. Witnessing this shortage of staff really highlighted the decline in service quality, which was a stark contrast to my previous visits. 3. One of the most concerning issues was the condition of the room. The kettle provided was rusty inside and could not be used, which raises concerns about the overall cleanliness and maintenance of the facilities. I have stayed at this hotel before and had much better experiences, which makes this visit particularly disappointing. I hope the management addresses these issues, especially the clarity of their policies and staffing levels, as it significantly impacted our stay.

Strange layout of the rooms. No slippers, dental kit and comb placed on the rooms. Even after hanging “make my room” sign the only adjusted the sheets and washroom (specially sanitary fixtures) were not cleaned. Washrooms are dated and definitely need immediate renovation and up-gradation. Sub standard shower curtain is installed in rooms which does not stop water going on the floor. Hotel location is great, just in the city center. Overall just satisfactory experience

During the Christmas holiday, I had the pleasure of staying at your hotel. Yeshan, from the restaurant, provided outstanding service to me and my parents. He was incredibly polite, attentive to details, and genuinely caring. We want to express our heartfelt thanks to him and the entire team for delivering such excellent service, even on Christmas Day.

Central hotel with great service and fairly good facilities. Breakfast is also pretty good. Bathrooms are in desperate need of a refresh but is otherwise pretty good. Service is notably above average with friendly and helpfull staff.

I really enjoyed my recent 3 day stay at Crown Plaza during my first visit to Australia’s quaint capital. The property is lovely and centrally located near great restaurants, cafes, bars and attractions. Rooms are spacious with ample amenities and comfortable beds. I also enjoyed their buffet breakfast with a wide selection of choices between typical hot items and healthy options like fresh fruit and oatmeal. I’d love to stay here again if I ever have the chance to re-visit lovely Canberra in the future.
