Easily our favourite pub in Sydney — and not just because they serve a Sunday roast that could bring a tear to your eye. Perfectly cooked, generously portioned, and just the right kind of food coma for a Sunday afternoon. But the real VIP here is our pup Ralph, who struts in like he owns the joint. He devours the puppy dinner like he hasn’t eaten in weeks (he has), and the dog beer? Let’s just say we’re glad he can’t drive home. The staff are legends — friendly, fast, and always up for a chat or a pat (for Ralph, not me… although I wouldn’t say no). Great food, great vibes, and a place where both humans and hounds are treated like royalty. 10/10 would roast again.

Had an early dinner here with my family and my wife and I were very pleased with our choices. Ingredients and execution of our meals was excellent. Our daughters meal however, was sub standard with poor quality beef that was in edible. This was taken care of by the friendly staff. Possibly difficult to spot by the kitchen?? One other point, the menu was a little limited but as I said, the barramundi was excellent and the veggie option too. Would return..

Great local vibe, one of the few left in Balmain… Reasonably priced grog and food. Traditional pub favourites alongside fancier choices. Good selection of wine, beers and cocktails. Has a bottle shop, a great courtyard, and furry friends welcome.

Most pathetic excuse for a "Poké Bowl" I have ever seen in my life. Chicken somehow cold AND overcooked. Coffee arrived lukewarm too. $31 better spent literally anywhere else.

The EVH is a great pub! It has a great environment, great menu that is affordable, and a great range of drinks and local beers on tap with a few specials. Importantly, it is doggo friendly offering doggo meals and a doggo beer( ok it is beef broth) the vibe of this pub is very welcoming and they make the effort to keep it casual, local and focused on great quality. Staff are knowledgable and service is with a smile and chat if you want. Well worth a visit, see you there!! Check out the doggo photo wall!!
