Great location with access to the metro, shops and freeway. However the quality and consistency of service did not meet the standards of the brand. Hubby rang the front desk in the morning to inquire for access to the laundry room which was locked. The lady said she would get someone up to unlock it. Hubby ended up waiting until after 5pm, when a male attendant in the front desk came over to assist. On the last night of stay, passes wouldn’t work to access the room and so had to go down to front desk to get the issue sorted which should have been sorted out the other day but apparently wasn’t working. Also upon arrival, the beds were not made and were the worst looking that I have ever seen in a hotel. The sheets were not tucked it and pillows were not straightened out!!! The cleaner did a sloppy job and when raising complaint to the front desk was told that we had to leave the cleaning sign outside of the room for the room to be cleaned. Well bathroom essential were provided and toilet seemed cleaned however the bed was left unattended. Whether the cleaning sign is out it is still essential for full cleaning service to be provided unless you DO NOT WANT your room CLEANED!!! Guests forget these sometimes. Sorry but won’t be returning, after this experience . :(

The best things about this hotel are its traditional design with a huge carpark at the entrance, 4 floors only, beautifully-designed inside and outside, and more importantly, a restaurant that serves versatile high quality meals with generous portions and reasonable price. Their grilled chicken was the best I’ve ever had.

Sunday lunch. My group of 8 had the place to ourselves. All the guests had checked out, so it was quiet and intimate. Service was amazing 👏 Food was fresh, delicious and well priced. We felt like VIP's. The day was a beautiful, so we sat out on the terrace. Highly recommend this time. 1

I was looking for a local hotel to stay at whilst in the process of moving home and I was juggling between punthill, the hills lodge and Rydges. As Rydges has the best value I decided to go with them. The hotel has changed hands several times, the first time I stayed here was in 2011 when it was under Crowne Plaza (then it came Novotel before Rydges). In terms of appearance, unfortunately not too much has changed since then and it really shows, not enough to be critical over as the rate is low in comparison to other places however, the rooms, hallways etc all need a new paint job badly and facelift! The main lobby itself is quite inviting, all the staff were very friendly and accomodating. The breakfast buffet was $30 and decent, room service is available, there is also a complimentary self service laundry on site, as well as pool and exercise facilities which are at no additional charge. The gym is available 24/7, the pool was I think 7am-10pm or so and quite decent, lots of chairs around to also chill and relax. There wasn’t many cons, not enough for me to say don’t stay here or to leave a negative review. There is plenty of free parking on site which a lot of hotels make you pay for. The most annoying point is what it seems a lot of people have said which is the showers leak through the curtains and flood the bathroom and you have to use up all the towels to dry it up. The aircon doesn’t go below 21, and I’m used to having my home one set to 18. The TV only has limited channels and doesn’t allow wireless streaming from your phone. Luckily I brought my foxtel IQ box from home and plugged it in. Would be nice if they offered complimentary bottles of water, as the only place to get drinking water from is the bathroom faucet. For a short casual stay, it’s perfectly fine. I have heard a rumour that it’s apparently meant to become a private hospital in the future which could explain why they’ve let the rooms etc all become dated. If not, this place has some serious potential with just a facelift! Easily has potential to become a 5 star hotel I’ll definitely stay again in the near future.
