Reviews for The Barrie

Went for food, and found it pretty basic pub food. DJ was not loud (as someone else described) at 7 pm so we could eat in peace and have a conversation. Service was pleasant both at bar and table.

I visited this pub yesterday with my partner after redeeming an offer from Eats Club, and I absolutely loved it! We ordered a few drinks, including Sex on the Beach and Caipirinhas, and they were really well made. The atmosphere was perfect—the music wasn’t too loud, so we could actually chat, and it wasn’t crowded either. We had such a great time, and the staff were super friendly and welcoming. We’ll definitely be coming back soon!

My friends and I had an extremely upsetting experience at The Barrie that I feel compelled to share. One of my friends has cerebral palsy, and we were forced to leave a booth by security 20 minutes before another booking for the booth. This was not only unnecessary but deeply dehumanising—especially for my disabled friend, who requires specific seating accommodations. What made it even more distressing was the way it was handled—multiple security staff approached us at once, surrounding the booth in a way that felt completely excessive, like a swarm. It was intimidating and humiliating for everyone involved, and especially for my friend. When we tried to speak with the manager about it, things only got worse. He made an insensitive and inappropriate remark questioning how my friend even managed to get up the steps to the booth, and then casually pointed toward other seating areas—all of which were either already full or completely inaccessible, including bar stools that my friend cannot use due to his disability. They eventually attempted to resolve the situation by offering a free drink and arranging more appropriate seating for our friend, but only after a lot of back and forth with management. By that point, the experience had already been handled incredibly poorly, and the emotional harm had been done. The entire encounter was degrading, and the lack of empathy or basic understanding of accessibility needs was shocking. It’s 2025—there is no excuse for this kind of treatment. Management should be ashamed of how they handled this situation and seriously reconsider how they train staff to interact with disabled patrons. No one should have to feel unwelcome or disrespected in a public space, especially not because of a disability. The whole situation was completely degrading and I will never go back to The Barrie due to this experience.

A hidden unique bar one must venture into an unsuspecting driveway despite situated amongst Chippendale's closed stores - cheap $6 happy hours before 7pm! Ryan, Nico and the team were extremely easy in booking the entire bar for a Friday afterwork and extend up to the ticketed event. Be sure to check out the swing and birdcage for some amusement and talking points for you gents' on a date ;).

Worst restaurant/bar/pub/nightclub ever. Choose one please bro ahhahaha. Forgot our drinks, forgot our cutlery. Food was not what was advertised, the olives were not marinated in house those guys were out the jar. The calamari simply didn’t have schezuan at all, plastic tubs for the sauces. It was actually really funny All I gotta say to sum this all up is - who serves olives like this 🤣🤣🤣
