I showed up at 2:30am. Visiting from another country. The doorman/security guard asked how many drinks I had. I said 4. He said that’s way too much, you’re not allowed inside. I asked him why? Do I seem too drunk? He said no. 4 is just too much. This place closes at 4/5am. So to turn me away at the door when I’m honest and still sober is a joke. Shame on this establishment.

Have been here a few times and mostly good experiences but the lately the security guards have been possessive about catching people doing substances, seems like there only job is to check toilets and look under cubical doors. Fair enough that is somewhat necessary but not to the point where is detracts from a good atmosphere. Also need a cap on the amount of people they let in, paid $25 to enter over the weekend and the place was that packed you could not move. We left within 20 minutes due to this.

Club 77 is hands down the best techno club in Sydney. The sound system is on another leve crisp, powerful, and perfectly tuned to elevate the entire experience. Highly recommended!

Ive been into techno in all its genres since the mid 90s. And been to clubs all over the world. The best cities for options and choice is Berlin and a distant second London. The Heyday for Sydney was from the 90's to early 2000s which sadly got killed off by police sniffer dogs, white cane policing and a conservative element in media who haven't the faintest about Techno/rave/electronic dance music.. Club 77 I first went to in the 90s and is amazing for the fact that the atmosphere and vibe equals Berlin clubs Ive been to and features some of the same DJs. How Club 77 has survived for so long is a miracle and the vibe equals the 90s vibe and also matured like the finest quality whisky or wine as a mediocre comparison. The place is smallish and on a Saturday night in particular can be crowded but hey people check out thurs, fri and sunday nights for a pleasant surprise. Dancing my arse off for 3hours straight is a mark of a great night, DJ and club and most nights Ive been club 77 meets the standard hands down. And hey people re - security, drugs etc take it from me. Im a lawyer. If patrons deal or openly consume illicit substances guess what licencing will come down like boulders on the club and shut it down in a blink of an I. If your going to deal or consume drugs do it well before being on premises and dont be so shit faced that your state sticks out like dogs balls when you get there. Legally once such events occur on premises or even within a few hundred yards of the entrance. Licencing treats the club as being liable. No ifs or buts. THATS WHY SECURITY IS THE WAY IT IS. CLUB SELF PRESERVATION. Also some may remember the Blackmarket nightclub from the 90s and shootings over drug turf. Club 77 hasnt any evidence of such issues and the shit vibe it creates. Club 77 surviving all of this is a miracle and may the club be still in another 25 years. THERES NO BETTER CLUB IN SYDNEY IN MY OPINION. IF YOU WANT PRETENSE HEAD FOR IVY AND IF HANDBAG HOUSE IS YOUR THING OXFORD STREETS THE GO. But if you love the highest quality dance/techno with a regular clientele who ooze cool but no pretence and the most approachable and friendliest strangers who came in the same spaceship that I came in CLUB77 IS IT. IN SYDNEY AND POSSIBLY AUSTRALIA. Kindest regards Nick

They would not allow me and my mates in. We had not been drinking however as soon as we arrived at the door they said no to us with no reason. Edit in response: We did not refuse to leave the club, we did leave for over an hour before coming back as we had 10-15 friends who had arrived separately to us that had been allowed in. I had been the driver and not drinking which I told to the person at the door when I came back after my mates had left for the night via Uber. The man at the door did not care. I told him it’s fine if I’m not allowed in but would like to know why, he refused to answer and told me he would call the police. I left him and went to speak to another person working the entrance and he said he had no idea why I wouldn’t be allowed in as I seemed completely fine. The other person then got mad that I would speak to someone else even though I wasn’t asking to be let in, just wondering why I hadn’t been allowed entry while completely sober and wearing appropriate attire. I’m sure your establishment is great but the way the situation was handled was poor. Being immediately met with aggression when being spoken to calmly was unnecessary
