My family and i have stayed at various hotels at the Hunter Valley and unfortunately we don't think Rydges is one we will be visiting again. Firstly the rooms were very dirty, towels were stained, cobwebs and bugs in almost every corner, dusty and very smelly. Housekeeping is offered at a rate even though this is not mentioned on 3rd party booking sites and just states available on request. Staff didn't want to hear about any issues and were rude. The lift in the main area didn't work so we, as well as many other families, had to carry our pram up and down the stairs in the main lobby area multiple times a day. Safety was definitely not their priority in providing assistance or an alternative way to get to the lower level. They advertise that they are a family orientated hotel however kids rides only operate for approx 10 minutes 3 times a day - so chances are you'll miss them. Pool and water Park are advertised a heated however the water park is definitely not heated, my kids are shivering from the cold water. There aren't many foot paths so you're occasionally sharing the road with vehicles to get from one place to another. Lastly i called in advance to advise that I have a 8 week old baby with me and that I need a room accessible for a pram we were placed in an apartment on the first floor with no lift! There was also a roll away bed in the corridor that was never refined during our 4 day stay. Only plus was location and the morning breakfast buffet. Unfortunately this stay really left a sour taste in our mouth and won't be going back.

The staff couldn’t do enough and made the stay pleasant. The location is fantastic and made it easy getting around the hunter valley. I really enjoyed the room service too! However, the room was dated and basic. It really needs a complete renovation. I had a suite but no minibar and I’d rank it as a 3 star hotel at best.

Stayed mid week on a Luxury escape 2 night package. Enjoyed the hotel and the rooms, not luxury but very good and in a great location. Enjoyed the restaurant one night and the Buffet breakfast was a stand out. Probably the best I have ever experienced.

Amazing resort style. Great view when arriving. Close to various wineries. Pools and spa are amazing with a great view at night time with entire pool illuminated. Fantastic kids water park area. Adults only pool in different area of the resort too, tennis courts, gym. Rooms are comfortable. Only problem was air con was very poor and room was stuffy, even with balcony doors open most of the afternoon and evening. Downstairs dining and bar is great, with a amazing view of the pool at night and whisky tasting. Upstairs restaurant offers a buffet for breakfast and great dining throughout the day. Great golf course and function centre for corporate activities. Shuttle bus service for hot air ballooning from front door and returns as well. Definately recommend to try it out for a weekend away or family holiday.

Very central to a variety of Hunter Valley venues amazing golf course and clean facilities. Downfall was the room and the price per night for what was included. $930 for 2 nights for 2 people in a double room. Definitely won’t be back value for money lacking definitely pay for location convenience nothing special for $465 a night. Balcony wasn’t clean/tidy, loose light fittings and lack of inclusions such as breakfast or discount on golf for paying for the room for the weekend. Only reason I was happy to pay was due to location for mates wedding and we played golf the day before the wedding. Unfortunately suits people with a large budget that don’t expect bang for buck accommodation. Plus cold showers aren’t the best either
