This café is right on the beach and has a great atmosphere. The staff was friendly. I particularly enjoyed their mango smoothie and coffee; both were delicious and refreshing. The burger and salad were good too, with fresh ingredients and nice flavors. However, I was let down by the fish in the fish and chips, which was too dry and had batter that was too thick for the fish. There’s paid parking close by, but you need to go down some stairs to reach the café. Overall, it’s a good spot, mainly due to its fantastic location.

In my opinion, they serve the best fish and chips in Sydney—the fish is always fresh, perfectly fried, and paired with crispy, golden chips. It’s a dish you can’t miss! Their cocktails are top-notch as well, offering a refreshing complement to the meal, especially when enjoyed with the beautiful views over the beach and ocean. The atmosphere is laid-back yet stylish, and the service is always friendly and attentive, making you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. If you’re looking for great food, drinks, and an amazing ambiance, The Boathouse is definitely worth a visit.

I love the Boathouse brand and restaurants but I was shocked at the weekend when we went for Breakfast, having not been for brekkie here in a while, the portion size was half the size I have had so many times in the past and $6.60 for a tiny portion of bacon as an addition was what shocked me the most. My 9yo son said it must be shrink-flation! Disappointing paying $23.10 for that portion size.

We had lunch at the Boathouse Shelly beach. It was busy but we were lucky we found an empty table inside (round table with stools with capability to seat 4-6 people). We ordered the kale salad, the crumbed chicken cutlet to share for two. I ordered two drinks as I could not make up my mind. I had the fresh coconut and the ginger/turmeric tonic, both very reasonably priced. Service was quick although the place was busy. Food and drinks ordered were all good choices and thoroughly enjoyed.

Very disappointing experience at Shelly beach today. Ordered the avocado toast which I have been getting for years. The avocado was brown and old and only a small amount, they’ve also gotten rid of the feta and reduced the toast size. Absolute ripoff for $20. Used to be so good!! Seems like they are trying to cut costs and reducing quality but increasing the price. Will not be ordering food here again. Very poor
