Reviews for The Hydro Majestic

We had the pleasure of enjoying high tea at the iconic Hydro Majestic Hotel in the Blue Mountains, and it was an unforgettable experience. The moment we stepped into the Wintergarden, we were swept up in the grandeur and old-world charm of the space. The panoramic views over the Megalong Valley are simply breathtaking and set the perfect scene for a relaxing and elegant afternoon. The high tea itself was beautifully presented—three tiers of delicate savouries, freshly baked scones, and exquisite pastries. The finger sandwiches were classic but well done, and the scones (served warm) were a definite highlight, accompanied by rich jam and clotted cream. The desserts were little works of art—light, creative, and not overly sweet. The tea menu was extensive, with everything from traditional blends to more exotic options. We appreciated the attentive but unobtrusive service—staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and let us enjoy the experience at our own pace. The whole experience felt like a special occasion, even if you’re just popping in for the day. It’s not just about the food—it’s the atmosphere, the history, and that unbeatable view that really make it magical. Definitely recommend it for couples, small groups, or anyone looking to indulge in a bit of timeless luxury.

A lovely historic building. High Tea was tasty with a gorgeous view. Location is OK, and not too far from other Mountain hot spots, but it is not located within a village etc, so you need to drive to other restaurants, shops etc. Our room was on the smaller side but still comfortable. The bed and pillow and sheets were the best I've had in a long time. Breakfast had a lovely view and was nice, but don't expect a massive buffet like in a large hotel chain etc. It was still good though.

When we first came, we were assisted by one of the kindest yet professional staff called Marcus. He was so informative in terms of hotel service wise and also some good spots around the area. He remembered my name whenever he saw me and even when we checked out from the hotel. In terms of the room condition, view, food, etc., it meets the standard of a 4 stars hotel. The room was clean and neat, the view was breathtaking, and the menu for the breakfast that the hotel offered was great. Great experience overall and highly appreciated the services, especially by Marcus from the reception team.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Hydro Majestic at the Blue Mountains, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations in many ways. Upon arrival, the check-in process was smooth and efficient. The front desk staff was incredibly welcoming and took the time to ensure I was comfortable. The hotel offers a range of amenities that made my stay even more enjoyable. The on-site restaurant was a highlight, with a diverse menu and delicious food. I highly recommend booking The Wintergarden for its High Tea. Overall, I had a wonderful stay. The combination of great service, and comfortable accommodations made for an unforgettable experience. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting. Whether you’re in town for business, leisure, or a special occasion, this hotel has everything you need for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Totally renovated over a 6 year period the Hydro reopened in 2014. It is now a very comfortable hotel with a wonderful Art Deco ambience. The rooms are spacious with ensuites and RC air. Service is excellent as is the buffet style breakfast. We did not partake of the $89 two course dinner as there were very little vegetarian options and, quite frankly, we thought a little expensive. The lounge area, with open (gas) fire, is a great place to enjoy a wine or cocktail and wind down at days end. We got a great package deal and would highly recommend to those considering a stay there.
