Stunning cocktail bar in gorgeous former bank building. Stopped by on a quiet Wednesday night for a nightcap. Delicious blend of brandy, salted caramel and some acidity. Loved it, definitely come back.

Such a warm and friendly crew here, with nothing being too much trouble. Bar Mellow is the perfect place to enjoy a cheeky cocktail in the main bar, there's a lovely ambience of beautiful sophistication, perfect for a date night! The private room is a gorgeous space to host small gatherings or an intimate event. We held a private event here and our experience was thoroughly accommodated and the delightfully cheeky, yet professional service manner was appreciated and added to the experience of our guests!

I love this place and the people who work there. The best bar on Hunter Street and in general in this area. Good music, good service, what more could you expect. If you're drinking alone and don't know where to go, go to this bar. You won't go wrong.

The unexpected highlight of our trip to New Castle! Beautiful bar with very calm and chill atmosphere to come and grab one of their amazing worthwhile life changing cocktails with your friends. The whole menu was perfect. Almost wanted to try every cocktail on the menu, unfortunately stopped myself at 3 different ones. But definitely reason to go back and try some more. Even their linguine pasta was delicious enough to tie in with your drinks. The staff was absolutely lovely. Super friendly and welcoming. Loved having a chat with them. Definitely the place to come and have a lovely chill evening with your friends. Definitely need to stop and experience this place out when you visit the town. Want to come back to New Castle solely because of this bar

What a hidden gem. Looking at the menu, I can't wait to actually spend some time here on a return to Newcastle. What stood out to me most was the immediate and friendly greeting as you walk through the door. Personally seated, and provided with cold water and delicious Sicilian olives. We said we were short on time and the bartender made suggestions to ensure he could get the drinks out (for three) and allow us enough time to enjoy them. We all decided on the in-house-made aperol spritz off the tap which was turned around within a couple of minutes. When paying the bill I snuck a delicious shot of Mr Black Amaro on the way out. In and out in 25mins to grab a train, but I'm chomping at the bit to come back for a cheese and meat platter accompanied by some of their listed shaken cocktails. Service is huge for me, and this is by far the best venue for it that I've been to in years. Well done. The above aside, great looking venue. Ambient low-lighting with sky high ceilings; and a relevant painted backdrop to a well-stocked bar. Modern vintage in the decor on the booths and an opportunity to sit at the bar stools if wanted. Only reason I've downgraded the atmosphere is due to the lack of patrons for a Saturday night, but that's what makes this a supremely hidden gem to me as well. 5+ stars for everything else; 11/10 will return.
