Reviews for The Convent

We held out wedding at Circa 1876 and The Convent in early April, and where do we start? What an incredible venue for our wedding, the staff were amazing to us throughout our stay at The Convent, nothing was too much trouble. We worked with The Convent's amazing events coordinator Maisie to organise everything ahead of our wedding - she had such incredible attention to detail, which meant everything ran so smoothly over our two days at The Convent and we didn't have to think about anything. Our wedding guests were all so well looked after, the rooms were immaculately clean and prepared for when our guests arrived, especially for those arriving on the day of the wedding, and everyone was able to check in and get prepared before the wedding began at 3pm at Circa 1876. The staff took care of every need for the wedding party without question throughout our stay and our guests had an amazing time there too. We are really excited to come back and stay every year to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and we can't thank all the staff at The Convent, Circa and Maisie enough!

Centrally located in Pokolbin is very convenient indeed. It's an absolutely awesome building . Totally inspiring . Great room, furnished out of the late 1800s, very comfortable in most aspects. ( TV could be positioned appropriately. ) I had a superior room on the second floor with a scenic outlook down the tree lined driveway entrance. Beautiful grounds with the great restaurant Circa 1876, 200 metres away. Service was fantastic. However, a high-pitched annoying alarm went off at 9.15 pm, and it took 20 min to turn it off. Not good. Breakfast was yummy, and overall, the experience was very enjoyable. Totally recommended! 👌🍻

Stunning property, ideal for special occasions. Friendly and attentive staff, it is a luxurious accommodation when visited during shoulder season. Outrageously affordable, quiet, well maintained property known for its nearby vineyards, nearby and new whiskey distillery (both within walking distance), delicious food options nearby and making a mark within the entertainment industry.

Amazing Stay. Had the most amazing stay here and food at Circa was so good. We stayed in garden suites and it was such a lovely stay and the breakfast was made to order and was so good. I found most of the staff so helpful but found a member of the reservation staff very rude and her phone manner was very unprofessional. The gentleman on reception was so nice and helpful. Would 100% recommend this hotel.

The exterior of The Convent, and its close proximity to Pepper Tree Wines and Circa 1876, make it a beautiful location to stay. Unfortunately, it's let down by its rooms. We stayed in rooms 802 and 803, which are both downstairs rooms, and we were assured that, despite one of the rooms being next to a common eating area, it would be quiet. It wasn't. And the other room was right near the staircase to upstairs, and was similarly noisy until late at night. This beautiful old building has very little soundproofing. The bed while small was beautiful. But the rest of the room was tired and badly in need of an update. A lack of attention to detail in maintenance, as examples: paint wearing off the bathroom door being badly patched and tiles being cracked in the bathroom, as well as curtains that were so stained and revolting I didn't want to touch them, left us feeling like we had vastly overpaid for what we received. We were very appreciative of a lift down to the restaurant for dinner, but that was the extent of the customer service. When we arrived, there was no one at reception despite it being about 4 o'clock in the afternoon around prime check-in time. And upon leaving this morning, we weren't asked if we enjoyed our stay or if we slept well, clearly, because they know that the rooms are not appropriate. I strongly urge the hotel to pay attention to reviews (that I've now seen here below mine) where people have been suggesting for years that maintenance to the accommodation is necessary. Unless a refurbishment takes place, I wouldn't stay here again.
