Reviews for Fairmont Resort Blue Mountains

Overall it was a satisfactory stay. Special mention to Karen who managed the casual dining area (across from the Reception) on our 1st night. She really went out of her way to make our dining experience a pleasurable one. We returned to the same dining area the following night, and some other dude was managing it that night who was far below Karen's standard and the experience wasn't as great. We encountered Karen again in the buffet breakfast area on our checkout morning, and just could see how great she was by observing how joyfully she was liaising with all the guests. It is the people who make all the difference. The rooms are not new, but well kept and quite comfortable. The Resort overall has more than enough activities to keep everyone engaged, especially kids. Will surely be back.

We booked a room in Fairmont Resort as a child-friendly place to stay. This was a double-edged sword, as we had many loud school-aged children running through the corridor outside our room, while our almost-2-year-old was asleep. We had requested a cot in our room prior to arrival, which had been confirmed in writing and by telephone, however this was not present and took a long while to be brought to our room once we arrived. The bell boy told us we had to wheel our own bags to our room and return the trolley, as he had 2 other people to transport bags for - not acceptable to us. The complimentary on-site parking was very convenient and greatly appreciated. The food was good, however a little on the expensive side. My wife received a massage at the spa there, which she enjoyed, however the front desk staff member at the spa was not friendly or helpful. There was a playground with slides that was perfect for our little boy, who loved running around and climbing on it. The arcade area was amazing! So many great games to play. The pools looked good, although we didn't have a chance to utilise them. Altogether a good place to stay, with a great range of facilities and activities, but the hotel service standards could be improved.

I was hoping for a relaxing stay at Fairmont… Unfortunately the experience was underwhelming. The lobby is a great space, but the styling is dated… with a few tweaks it would look fantastic. The check-in was ok, but we asked to book for dinner and were told we could only do it with QR code. When we got to our room, another disappointment… room was also dated and had view on the parking lot. Not really what you are hoping for when staying in a mountain resort. I tried to book with the QR code but it wasn’t working, so I tried to go on the website there was no link to the restaurant booking system. I then tried to use the room phone to reach reception but the phone wasn’t working. I then called the hotel, with my mobile, I had to follow the prompts to attempt to reach reception. Unfortunately, even that didn’t work as the call drops if you don’t get answered within a certain time. Seriously, it shouldn’t be SO difficult to book for dinner! After almost half an hour, I gave up. I then had a bath, in the dated bathroom. My friend and I then decided to show up to dinner. We were first asked if we made a booking… I was fuming 😡 The restaurant was fully booked so we were seated in the overflow area in between 2 families with children. Not what I was hoping for in term of a quiet night. We asked to move in a quiet spot and once we moved to a table away from noise and near the window if was better. The view is lovely but why have this rainbow giant slide ruining it! We waited almost an hour for our mains, lucky we ordered bread first! The positives: Karen in the restaurant was lovely and very helpful both at dinner and breakfast. The spa was also great, we did the salt room treatment. The gym is large and well equipped. We enjoyed both the indoor and outdoor pools. The grounds are well maintained. This hotel has so much potential. It really needs a face lift to offer a mountain lodge experience. At the moment it is dated and eclectic and not value for money. I was told by one of the reception staff that a major renovation is starting at the end of 2025. I look forward to seeing the results once completed.

Beautiful resort with a great entrance and nicely designed lounge. There are so many things to do including an ice rink, an indoor pool, an outdoor pool, sauna, jacuzzi, kids play area for all ages, a golf club, an adventure park, a stable etc... (tried listing everything haha). Some of the activities were unfortunately closed and could use a good revamp but overall we had a great stay. Beautiful views and beautiful place.

The location is amazing in amongst the best that Leura has to offer. The hotel accommodation itself, however, is showing its age after being refurbished over 10 years ago. That said we enjoyed the pool, the gym and a wonderful walk around the hotel in the evening after the sun had set. Whilst we didn't do the other activities available it was clear they were a bonus. The kids sections including games room was the best we had seen. Our experience with staff was pleasant and check in / check out was no trouble. Definitely a family hotel vs a couple get away. Some aspects of nostalgia are pretty cool such as a model train set for kids to view
